Forums - Microsoft - Help! Convince me not to buy a very cheap and sexy 360! >_< Save my wallet!

I know we're supposed to convince you to not buy it, but since you already have xbox games, you should buy it at that price. I sold mine for 100 dollars to a friend with halo 3 over a year ago: I would have hooked you up.

The game is as free as online is free on XBL.

There is a big difference. GOLD was never advertised or claimed as free.

The deal is a good one, but you should decide for yourself if you want to spend the money on the system or wait. You seem to know what games you want on the system. If it is worth it to you, get it.

This thread has been an amazing read haha, but in all seriousness:

PS+ > GOLD

PS+ games have never been advertised as free, they're just one of the perks or an 'Instant game collection' as SONY calls it for a subscription which has been clearly advertised as such.

For Example Lovefilm/ Netflix are free to access on the PS3 whereas on the Xbox you have to pay a fee to access these services your already paying for. The only thing GOLD doesn't restrict you from are the services that Microsoft want everyone to have access too straight away, which funnily enough are the ones you can actually spend more money on such as the app store. Bad times.

I'm not discussing PS+ vs Gold, and whichever is better is based on your opinion, preferences, and what you deem to be worth your money. If you want to discuss that, there are plenty of threads about it.

Do a simple search, PS+ games are advertised as "free."

Took me all of 2 seconds to Google "PS+ free games" and see PS blog results where Sony does in fact say the games are free.

My apologies, I don't visit the playstation blog as it's run by a bunch of muppets, I was purely going off the PS store as that's where they sell their service.

To DeskPro, I did answer the question. It just doesn't apply to you. Read what I said again if necessary and apply the online/replay thing to a majority of players. Most people play online and finish some games more than once. Thus, the "suckered in".

I don't remember the OP asking about online games so I based my suggestion on that only, but anyways, If you pay for a full year of PS+ then you have a full year to play that game over and over to your hearts content. Look at it this way, a couple games added to your collection every month for a full year adds up.

I don't remember him talking about aything apart from buying a 360, yet here we are.

Thread title reads, convince him not to buy a cheap 360..

Just get a PS3 if you don't want Halo or Gears. It's that simple. You already said you won't have xbl so Halo and Gears is the best you can get that's exclusive. Or spend the money on games. Doesn't matter. You want us to convince you not to buy it and the fact is 98% of the games on the 360 you can get on PS3 while many awesome PS3 games are exclusive.

Don't! It truly lives up to its name, where you head towards it and once seen and experienced, you end up making a 360 and head back from whence you came. Xbox 360 is the reverse "Once you turn black, you never go back".

well look at it this way, you will be paying for live for atleast a year, thats another 50 bucks to your 180$, add another 50 bucks for every year you want live with it.

I'll probably not get Live. You only need it to play online right?

to do anything online from what i understood. here is the thing, if you already have a PC and your not interested in Forza then you only have two noticable games left to play, which are gears and halo. is it really worth getting the xbox for these two franchises that, mind you, you wont be able to play online? considering that you have a PC that will play your games on a higher quality level of graphics. if these two franchises are worth 180$ bucks to get access to, then you got your answer.

I'm not interested in Halo either and I won't have to get Gears (that's what friends are for!). But, I don't have a PS3 so a 360 would give me access to games not available on PC or games that I'd just prefer to play on a console. Games like Tales of Vesperia, Vanquish and Resonance of Fate aren't available on PC and I happen to own FFXIII and Eternal Sonata for the 360 (don't ask why ). I'd also like to try out Shadow Complex because of it's similarity with Metroid.

And I'm not sure if my PC is better than a 360. On par perhaps.

Buy Lost Odyssey if you get a X360. Banjo Nuts and Bolts, Viva Pinata trouble in paradise, Alan Wake, Condemned1,  The Gears of War Games, Blue Dragon, like you mentioned Tales of Vesperia and Forza Horizon are also all awesome.

Oh and don't forget the Fable Games Fable 2 and 3 are amazing.

Thanks for the input guys. I'll hold off for now and wait for a better bundle or a price cut (or another impulse). But knowing that you can get a new shiny 360 with a new shiny game for this price I'll keep my eyes on the 360 hardware section in case a more interesting deal shows up.

I guess the 4GB model is an option but from what I understand you can't use an external hard drive for saves and games?

If you like FPS games and / or Kinect, get it. If not - just borrow one for games like Vesperia and Lost Odyssey / get it cheaper.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials
