The inFAMOUS: Second Son’s Patch released yesterday added the much requested ability to change the time of day after finishing the game, and this gave us a chance to compare the game’s looks bathed in extremely different lighting conditions, from bright sunlight to gloomy and rainy darkness.
The results are astonishing, and seeing the screenshots in sequence exposes the striking differences in the mood of every scene even better than just playing the game. Shadows placed differently affect the way we perceive the environment, and the bight neon lights revolutionize the surrounding when they’re turned on at night.
Below you can see eight galleries showcasing eight different scenes from the game bathed in the light (or darkness) of all the seven available times of day included in the new patch. Of course you should click on the thumbnails to see them in their full 1080p glory.
Each file is saved in lossless PNG for the best visual result, so they’re fairly big. Make sure to allow them a few seconds to fully load.
When we play a game it’s often very easy to overlook just how much lighting affects the beauty of the environment around us, and the mood of a scene we’re watching or playing in, but thanks to Sucker Punch we can now gain a deeper appreciation of that visual process.
What’s your favorite time of day? Personally, I’m partial to “Early Morning” (the 7th in each gallery). Let us know your preference in the gallery below.
Well.... that isn't quite how I expected those pics to line up....
Microsoft’s Xbox Department Head Phil Spencer has been quite vocal on the line-up he wants to bring at E3. While he did not give details, he went on record several times hinting that it’s going to be extremely solid. On the other hand the folks at Sony have been quite low profile, honing their own line-up without really saying anything about it.
Luckily industry insider Tidux has some rumors for us. Tidux has already demonstrated quite a few times to know what happens behind Sony’s (a bit leaky) iron courtain, especially by dropping a lot of details on the PS4′s UI and operating system before they were disclosed. Today he tookto Twitter for some sharing time.
OHH Shiiit! The lineup 4 E3 is Bonkers.
They are finalizing the details.
When asked for further details on whether The Last Guardian or Driveclub will be showcased, he answered:
@PS4G4M3PL4Y@DRIVECLUB
Of course, like all insider information, Tidux’s word should be taken with a pinch of salt, despite his solid track record, but assuming he’s right, this would also mean that we’ll also have to wait for after E3 to finally see Driveclub on the shelves.
Considering that we’re less than two months away from the show and we still don’t have a release date, that’s not overly surprising, but we can find comfort in the perspective that this E3 is probably going to go down in history as one of the richest.
Dang Raven slow down you took one whole page.
