Both of you sound like hipsters to me ;D

@Banana: Dude, I've watched a LOT of highly rated films. Me and a few friends took a few summers where we went through many of IMDB's top 250 movies. Great times. I've actually seen City of God about 3 times I think.

yeah, people just dont stumble upon city of god, anybody who watches it does so because they want to watch good movies.

i would recommend amadeus, magnolia, sunset limited (you might get bored to death though) and the recently released captain philips. im guessing you watched all of those though.

I have watched Amadeus and Magnolia. Actually never seen or even heard of Sunset Limited :O and the only reason I haven't seen Captain Philips yet is that it's so recent . I take my time these days.

I saw Amadeus when I was probably around 10 years old lol. Damn, I still remember how good it was. I was honestly shocked because we watched it at school (in a mandatory Music Education class).

lol we watched it at college. loved when the boobies came out

Sunset limted is for Samuel L jackson and Tommy Lee johes. you will either love it, or be bored to death after 15 minutes, hate it and close the movie.

I'm not sure when I saw it, but my parents were all heavily classical types of folks, so it was excused given some of the nature of it.  I want to say I saw it between the ages of 7-10, that's when we moved back to Vermont from Florida.  But, I couldn't tell you the exact timeframe.

Haven't seen City of God though, I'll have to check it out.

its a brazilian movie, so dont be putt of by having to read subtittles. its probably the best gang movie i ever seen. it would even beat american history X, if that is considered a gang movie. another movie you gotta watch too

I generally prefer subs, because English voice overs are typically horrific.  I learned that lesson from anime a long, long time ago :)

I've seen American History X, so that's already checked off hehe.

Gravity was alright, but I listen to too much Neil Degrasse Tyson speeches/debates to not have movies like that killed for me lol :)

I loved gravity. Was amazing in 3d too. But shutter island was creepy as fuck and mindblowing. So good
