I'm hoping both won't do it, cause it will discourage people from purchasing next generation consoles. Having said that, if it helps gaming studios stay afloat, then I support it.

People have to remember that the new next gen consoles from Son and Microsoft are getting input from the big developers themselves. And the majority of the big publishers want nothing more than the ability to block used games being played on systems. If they can get the ban outright, they will resort to some type of mandatory cost add in for said used game. It'll be more elaborate than the current passes.
Its believable seeing as last gen developers made you buy an incomplete game then charge you extra to get the other parts they have already completed and set aside (DLC). If people can get suckered in to that then i dont see why it would be a big deal to block used games.

That's an admirable sentiment. But I think studios should find other ways to make their products profitable.
If used games are blocked next gen the gaming industry in the US will completly crash
If it comes down to the developers it will be hard to work out which developers will prefer it. you could imagine call of duty having a used game block but would they really need it considering how many copy's sell around launch.. what about games that sell average amounts, are they willing to miss out on possible downloadable content and multiplayer packs form used game buyers.
I dont even think every developer will want a used game block but working out whether or not it will be beneficial to a game they are selling could prove difficult. well i rarely buy new so im against it, though i can see myself buying new games more often if instantly playable demos do happen

you going to Wiiu, PC, handhelds only, or sticking with 7th gen. consoles.
OT: don't care about used games. we should support those who make games. remember it's 1 big ecosystem of life. and in one way or another, we support each other.

My opposition to it is that I live with my boyfriend and we're both gamers in our own right, and I don't agree with needing to buy every game twice or else to play it on the same profile. That stinks and it's exactly what's going to happen with digital-only or a pre-owned block. Plus I never play co-op (ever) so the two copies for MP doesn't apply to me.

Ya, I wonder if the US is really the only main country that buys used games. Other countries probably have people who buy used games, but the US is full of cheapskates and I can see the US being the center for used game sales. Any time a someone can save 1 dollar or 5 they will. Like $5 will make or break them.
Ah well. I don't buy used games anyway, nor do I sell any of mine so I'll stick with my brand.
Playstation = The Beast from the East

Sony + Nintendo = WIN! PS3 + PSV + PS4 + Wii U + 3DS
