Does John Carmack have perspective?
I can’t speak freely about PS4, but now that some specs have been made public, I can say that Sony made wise engineering choices.

Show was great
Sony showed they fixed every problem and went into the complete opposite direction with every thing they did with the PS3.
They are in love now with every 3rd Party Developer and made up even with people like Carmack.
Only people who are one the wrong side(casue they think they can't switch) are trying to find something to hate.
Oh they didn't show the console?Hehehehe Sony is soooo bad
On the other side they ignore the games showed did only run with 2GB used RAM instead of 8 of the superior GDDR5 Ram.
There is NOTHING to hate about the presentation, the features or the games they showed for maybe except SquareEnix but f... them.
The PS4 is a big step into the right direction to push gaming into new heights and to take back the crown from Nintendo.

Those weren't, by any stretch of imagination, as bad the PS3 conference, and won't be as popular.
Everyone is talking more about PS4's power than the problems in the conference, which were really few and far in between, mostly down to some of the speakers being embarassing (such as the memes you posted) and not the console reveal itself. "8 GB GDDR" was such a megaton that blew everyone away.
I'm really happy they didn't show anything too ridiculous. Let's see how MS does.
