Exactly.
4K is more there to push a new standard in other media.
Movies,TV Shows and probably in combination with some Apps.
Japan is airing the next Football Worldcup in 2014 in 4k.
Anime with the start of 2014 will be available in 4k in Japan.Some of their stations already test 8k.
Sony said a few weeks before the event the want to push and give the USA the possibility to get everything in 4k.They will push the media they control and give them a big and constantly updating library.Movies,BluRay and probably some TV shows going 4k.
In Europe they will push 4k probably with Football - Especially in the UK and Germany they will do that with PayTV.
And don't forget all those Apps,scaling and such stuff.
And no you don't need a TV bigger than a house - New technology,more time = smaller TVs/PC Screens.
4k TVs will get cheaper the day this standard comes closer to normal people and normal media.
HD Ready did cost in den 90s the same and now you get Full HD for 200€.Your smartphone can do Full HD.
It was never meant to be used for gaming...At least not in this Gen.
This Gen barely has with every game NATIVE 720p and does 1080p pretty rarely outside of Indie Games and CGI Movies.
And no your PS360 isn't doing NATIVE 1080p - The stuff on the back of your gamecase isn't what NATIVE means.It just able to upscale to that Res and there is a big difference between NATIVE 576p(CoD,FF13 on 360 etc) and Resolutions above.We didn't even have a native 720p standard for games a long time.Just in the last years it became more common especially after Sony Exclusive Devs used and handled it.
We can be happy the PS4 is so strong and gives us the hope to reach the true HD 1080p Standard for games.
