So 77 million shipped confirmed?

If true then it is undertracked by a lot here, is it not?

no no, its just realistic that we have 4.2 million units on store shelves.

Well, I knew it would be undertracked if it is true, but I figured someone would get all pissy that I'm saying the ps3 is undertracked.  So, I made it into a question instead.

in some ways i hope MS does go that route.  would make ps4 far likelier to "win" and right now sony really needs a win.  not just for playstation, for all of sony.

hehe while true it will piss of a lot of gamers. I honestly hope it doesn't come to that. But yea unless ms changes their plans...it won't be pretty come E3. Here's hoping Sony's comments made them change their minds

You know several users..some who are actual developers or has a very good track record when it comes to info leaks over at gaf have said that the anti used stuff is true for the nextbox. I hope after seeing Sony focusing on the gamers so much at the reveal and because they are not going the no used route, ms changes their minds. It's just not good for gamers in general

Man that is an excellent way to put yourself out of business right there (at least as far as Microsoft's gaming division is).

I would be VERY unhappy if the next Xbox had no used games. I would still buy it for Halo 5 and 6 and other exclusive titles, but I would probably end up buying a PS4 and using that for all the multiplats (especially now that the controller is almost like the Xbox controller).

well let's wait and see how the final product turns out. as of now at least EDGE has been right on the money about PS4. Saying sony is thinking of going for 8GB of RAM and share button etc. Sadly they also said always online + no used games stuff for nextbox. But like I said if MS sees the negative reaction and also the fact that sony isn't going down that route, they might change their minds. Let's hope so. Heck I hope sony does stick to their words about the used games and always online comments as well :D

Oh and 'rumor wise' as of now PS4 will be clearly more powerful than the nextbox. So multiplats might actually look better on it. But yeah we need more concrete info

i wish this rumor would die.  it's never going to happen.  european litigation will ensure of that even if ms were to try.

well, maybe.  still, i won't believe it until it physically comes out of an MS representitives mouth.  ..and i'll help lead the charge to overturn a terrible decision.

Whichever way you spin it, going from 150 million+ PS2s to half that for PS3 is just not so good. In contrast, Xbox to X360 figures are simply vastly superior. Doesn't matter what kind of reasons and/or excuses you come up with, or how badly you just don't want to hear it, it's still true. You can say 'yes, but (insert reason) ...', it still does not change the facts.

77 million? he said it as if it is ALMOST there so i guess PS3 is at like 76.5 million then?

The thing is that PS4 will be able to play Netflix and browse the web while playing game.....what more do you need? Sure DVR or Cablebox integration would be nice but stuff like that would require an addional subscription and is completely useless if you don't have DVR or an old set top box.(like many of us do)

that's what I'm thinking.  PS3 does most of my multimedia stuff just fine (internet browser sucks but I like laptop for that anyway).  The only thing I would ask for is being able to boot up and switch between stuff quicker which 8gb of GDDR5 should be able to do just fine.  It's gonna be so nice just being able to open up the PS store in the blink of an eye and start downloading a game while I'm playing it.

I am wondering what they meant by being able to try everything out.  Does this mean the 1 hour free trials for every game?

Yeah I'm betting its something like that.

Yes facts are facts, but neither console are done selling yet. I think the main reason most people love how much PS3 is selling is because in the generation where Sony "lost" they will sell 80m+ and in the generation where MS "lost" they sold 24m. And in the generations where Nintendo "lost" they sold 22m gamecube and I think 39m N64.

That 77m thingie has been beaten to death for weeks now (it comes from Sony reporting one combined PS3+PS2 shipping number in the past few reports). That even Jack Tretton can't figure that out (or, more likely,  the people that shovel PR numbers onto his desk) is rather amusing, but somewhat embarassing nonetheless.
