Forums - Sony - Did Anyone Actually Expect PS4 to have B/C?

I really would have been quite surprised if PS4 had backwards compatiblitiy. I aslo dont understand why its so important. I'ts not like your PS3 just implodes when you buy a PS4 and it's not like you're going to be replaying all of your PS3 games the whole time, whats the use of buying a new console if you're going to play old games the whole time.

Just keep the PS3, seems pretty simple.

It's less clutter in the living room area, which is nice.

Some people are also limited in the amount of HDMI/Component cords they can use.

Overall it's just more convenient, but not a deal breaker or anything in my opinion. Also if you were switching from Wii/WiiU/360 to PS4 it would have been a nice bonus to have access at PS3's game library too. I'm not too confident Gaikai can accomplish that task just yet.

Considering that we've known the CPU architecture for months now, no, I didn't expect it to have BC.

A lot of people are hating on it, saying they wont buy a PS4 without it but im pretty sure its just the only point people can attack, most of them probably don't even own a PS3

No cell, no ps3 BC.
This has been known.

So how does this work?
Is it if you buy the digital version on PS3 you can play it on the PS4? IE buying it now on PSN and playing it on the PS4 when It's out? I'm confused.

It's just that simple.

It's a deal breaker for me. no BC,no buy and I own a ps3.

parents buy there kids ps3 games (too many) then the kid wants a ps4. Parents say "what about all those games I bought you... They'll go to WASTE!!!" Kid says "it's backwards compatible!". Parents don't feel like such suckers and buy the ps4.

no bc, no parental support...

I did'nt know. Not everybody is smart when it comes to tech.

Never expected it and to be honest I don't care about it. There's no way I am selling my PS3.
