Forums - Gaming - Extreme Gaming Skills Or Is The Game Broken!?

So i'm someone who mostly likes to game on higher difficulties. When this is not available, after beating the game first, i look to ways of making my game experience more challenging. Like for example in Final Fantasy 8, i played without junctioning any magic, no stat bonuses equipped or having beaten Dark souls with a SL1 character. However i don't like to try super crazy things that make the game, in my view of course, unreasonable or not fun like getting to disc 4 in under 12 hours (Final Fantasy 9) or having to beat Dead Space 2 on Extreme with 3 saves in the whole game :D

So what i guess i'm trying to say is this;

Does it bother you when you see a particular part or a boss in some game beaten very easily with some ways that actually "break" the game? I know there will always be things that people will figure out about any game out there, but sometimes it's just ridiculous how easily it is done. Also do you like to play your games with more challenge in them, or do you just want to finish and be done with it?

Here's an example from the last boss battle from Final Fantasy 8 where the user defeats Ultimecia without ever touching the controller!!!!

And another one from someone that beats Ozma (the toughest boss in Final Fantasy 9) with a level 1 character!!!

I really like to watch the broken gameplay, very funny actually^^

If you want something broken check this: (kinda long but hey it's a full game beaten in 21 minutes)

Nintendo and PC gamer

yea i like beating games on the hardest setting available, but i've gotten out of that habit. i can't remember why but some game did it.

I like to beat the games on the hardest setting too...but I have to admit, I've never beaten Ceaceless Discharge legitimately in Dark Souls...

Speedrunners and Challenges are fun to watch.
There you can see how flawed most games are cause those people will explore every inch of those games.

I actually beat Dead Space with three save moments. Was one of the greatest gaming experiences I have ever had since you actually fear death. My heart was pumping more or less throughout the entire game, as a result.

But yes, I also make the games more challenging by making self-made restrictions. Such as beating Metro 2033 using nothing but the Bastard Gun, beating Ocarina of Time without using swords or Fire Arrows and with only three hearts, beating some Perfect Dark Zero Levels using the Falcon pistol only, etc.

Needless to say, I find in-game achievements redundant.

I usually play on normal difficulty unless that's just too easy, like in Dragon Age 2. If it's a game where I actually enjoy the combat a lot, then I'll also try harder levels, but for most games I don't like being stuck at any one place for a long amount of time. I like upping the difficulty if it's a game I play through again, though, and I like +games that do that automatically, such as Torchlight 2 and Borderlands 2.

However, I don't like bosses or encounters that feel 'cheap'. If they feel unfair then I have zero compunction about using cheap tactics, myself.

To be honest, I don't really like bosses very much. They're almost always gimmicky somehow. I much prefer a very hard fight with tough standard enemies, or having to fight my way though a ton of strong opponents. Bosses are always like you're just trying to figure out the weak point and then it's usually just repetition.

One thing I do that almost always makes it harder, however, is that I horde potions/items and money. I generally finish games with tons of each. I see other people going through them like candy while I have stacks of 99 in storage.

I also LOVE taking on monsters outside my level range, even if it means being really cheap and/or resourceful. In Fallout: New Vegas, for example, I love hunting Deathclaws early by setting up mines and sniping from long distances. Dying multiple times is worth the thrill. I died sooo many times when I found the legendary Deathclaw but kept setting up mine clusters and trying over and over until I pulled it off.

I guess it really just depends on the game and how much fun I have playing it. The more linear it is, the more I just want to power through. Open world, though, I like it challenging.

lol unbeliveable! I wish developers made sure things like this weren't possible.

I don't know how he done this!
