The two new consoles that are coming will bring more power and the ability to display games with somewhat better graphics at 1080p and 60fps.

However, it's possible that they'll go for 720p and/or 30fps and focus on graphics.

Which do you prefer?

Personally, I used not to care about resolution, but since I have a projector with a 70" image, 720p looks kind of bad, with some exceptions like GoW3 (I don't know how they did that). Actually, after playing GoW3 I realised having a high framerate and no jaggies does improve the experience quite a lot.

I'd go for games at 1080p (with 30fps for some genres and 60fps for others) over improved graphics.

1080p @60 fps is out of the question for most games imo (outside of some very few AAA games (mostly 1st party) and indie games). I personally prefer 720p @60fps, but the standard will be 1080p @30 fps.

I want to see overall better visual performance. That means absolutely locked in frame rate. No screen tearing. Detailed textures. Great physics. No texture pop in.

I think resolution is more important than fps. So compromising on in order to get better overall performance means 30fps with 1080p. For 3D games I think output will probably be 720p @ 30fps.

When we say 30fps or 60fps, are we talking the fact that TRUE progressive is classed as 60Hz, despite only being 30fps?

I've seen games with great visuals and crappy framerates, so I'd go for smooth frames any day. 720p doesn't wow me anymore. :( So yea 1080p too.

who ever was the moron that started this 1080p 60ps next gen seriously needs to get a grip, maybe in the first 2 years of launch but over time and in general it will be 1080p 30 fps as usual... i bet anyone bf4 on next gen will be 1080p 30 fps... hell it should be just a relief that no devs have an excuse at all to make a game run a subHD resolution, at least full 720p(the new subhd) but still better than 640p or whatever crap resolutions we get now haha

I dont like 60fps. like in rage I find it less fun to play. Just like with the hobbit it seems to fast and ends up looking worse. A stable 30fps with 1080p would be good
