Forums - Gaming - Microsoft: “Everybody Knows” PS3 “Isn’t as Good of an Entertainment Console” as Xbox 360

So...PS3 has more Netflix use, Blu-Ray, 7.1 DTS Master-Audio support. Meanwhile, you have to pay a yearly price just to unlock most of the entertainment features on 360.

Yup... and MS doesn't release much exclusive software for Xbox 360 either

What is strange to me is that in terms of new console sales... the Xbox 360 continues to do better than the PS3 (especially in the US)

Maybe it's the "buy america" consumer patriotism, but on a product level... I don't consider the Xbox 360 to be anywhere near as good a value as the PS3.

I've said it a few times before. Everything in the US is a popularity contest. Most of the "gamers" here don't even really care what they play, as long as it's popular. They don't have a real passion for the hobby or what kinds of experience the media of videogames can provide. They just want to do/play what's trendy. Microsoft is much better at advertising so basically people believe what they see. Most of those same people who swear the 360 is better than the PS3 don't even know the difference between a multiplat and an exclusive game. If you'd ask them what they dislike about the PS3, it'll pretty much be "PS3 has no games". Ya know, THAT old arguement that hasn't been true for years and is actually more true for Microsoft at this point.

720 could give you aids when you turn it on and people here will still buy it.

But it is true,  PS3 does not have games like Halo 4 or even Minecraft.   Minecraft did not have any mayor advertising on tv,  is only available as an digital download and is available on a lot of platforms still it managed to sell already more than 5,5 million on xbla...   I guess it looks like gamers really know what they want.

BTW just because 1 service is used more on PS and it has blu ray doesn't tell the entire picture.

That would be like me saying that Dodge Neon over there has a sun roof and that Dodge Viper doesn't. That Neon must be better.

Don't be ridiculous. That comparison is utter bogus. What does 360 have in way of entertainment that PS3 doesn't? Come on, name something.

Halo 4, Minecraft all those countless apps and other games...

YES!! The console war has begun!

It might not be the better entertainment-console, but it is a better game-console which for me is more important

I think Sony cares about the gamer much more than Microsoft ever has.

On the theory that 0.01% > 0.001%?

He's kinda right. Sony takes far more risks with games, and creates far more than Microsoft would ever think to create. Their mind marketwise is squarely on the avid gamer and that can help but it can also hurt on a massive scale.

Yeah but when you task risks and don't follow up with money and marketing you become a murderer. What is the kill count on studios Sony has put down over the past few years?

But hey as long as some fan boys can say we have more games then you every thing is OK. I am never seen a fan base of anything brag about something and not buy it as much as Sony fans do.

What is the kill count on studios MS has killed? I'll start:

1. Ensemble Studios

your move

That is so true,  so many games released and so many failed because a very few bought them. 2012 was a disaster for Sony exclusives. Journey was the saviour but even them go multiplatform because they want to have an better financial situation something the Sony fanbase not delivered.

"I think to have a financial success, that is going to change everyone, it has to be much bigger than a game on the Playstation platform."

Obviously he is going to say that now that their contract has been completed and it makes sense. Journey sold a lot more than they thought it would and it is thatgamecompanys fault that they went bankrupt making the game.

Is this why Mass Effect and Bioshock ended up on the ps3, surely that means they failed on the 360

BigBig Studios, Zipper Interactive and SCE Studio Liverpool and then we have Q-Games, Insomniac Games  thatgamecompany,  Eat Sleep Play, Idol Minds, and LightBox Interactive breaking away from exclusives or leaving console development altogether to focus on Mobile.
