Forums - Gaming - Microsoft: “Everybody Knows” PS3 “Isn’t as Good of an Entertainment Console” as Xbox 360

I love all the shit talking.

Around the Network

Microsoft probably has created a better multimedia environment.

That being said, it's games that matter. Not Netflix, not Redbox, not ESPN, not YouTube.

Just give me a disc drive, a CPU, some RAM and processors, and wrap it all up in plastic, metal, and glass. Support it with awesome games. All the other applications and multimedia functions are just gravy.

I am new here. Wanted to give my thoughts as well...

Microsoft has let me down in the last couple years. Other than Halo and Gears, Xbox offers me personally very little. Some DLC First offers and Party Chat sums up the rest. A total 180 now compared to the start of this current gen. At first I only bought the PS3 to play MGS4 and Blu Ray. Almost everything else was played on the 360. Of course it helped the 360 that multiplatform titles looked much better on the 360 for the first couple years. And games like Halo 3, Gears, and Crackdown were a lot of fun. Now, everything has changed. Ever multiplatform game is bought for the PS3 or PC. The only game bought on the 360 in the last 12 months was Halo 4. Won't be renewing Gold. And if my 360 died tomorrow, it won't be getting replaced.

I am excited to see what Sony will be doing with the next Playstation. Not real excited to see what Microsoft is doing with the next Xbox.

Sony offers much more in terms of exclusive games. Sure some like LBP Karting, PS All Stars, and Twisted Metal were let downs imo. But most are amazing... again imo. Other features like online play and Netflix don't require me to pay extra like with Xbox Live Gold. PS Plus is a great service imo.

When I compare Xbox Live Gold to PS Plus, I see PS Plus as a "I don't want to miss out on" service. Xbox Live Gold is more of a "got to have if I want to be able to play the entire game" kind of service. I feel I get more from PS Plus and very little from Xbox Live Gold. Yeah Party Chat is great and wish it was on the PS3, but if online gaming was free on the 360 I wouldn't be spending $50+ a year on Party Chat.

To sum things up, I will almost certainly purchase the next Playstation (PS4/Orbis). From the rumors or specs and features that are out, to the PS3 business model of focusing on actual exclusive games and PS Plus value, I like the direction Sony seems to be going. Of course things can change from now to they actually release the next Playstation.

Microsoft needs to change for me to be a Xbox consumer again. They got to offer me more than Halo, Gears, and early DLC if they want me to buy their next console.

Just wow...and people here think Nintendo is desperate

Jokes on them, my grandmother doesn't know that.

LOL oh dear, Microsoft are getting to cocky tbh. they don't have anything to be cocky about though which is odd...

PS3has all the services Xbox has, the same online (not one is better then the other), Netflex which there boasting about is used MORE on PS3, they don't have a steady stream of exciting exclusives every year mixed with new IP's and one HUGE problem with there statement is it doesn't have blu-ray Movie support. MS, your turning into the Sony of 7 years ago and becoming arrogant. diffence is Sony had ALOT of be arrogant about back then.

Nope, Microsoft got hungry for hits. A sad and humorous attempt at trying to steal some of the spotlight from the February 20th PlayStation conference.

So...PS3 has more Netflix use, Blu-Ray, 7.1 DTS Master-Audio support. Meanwhile, you have to pay a yearly price just to unlock most of the entertainment features on 360.

Yup... and MS doesn't release much exclusive software for Xbox 360 either

What is strange to me is that in terms of new console sales... the Xbox 360 continues to do better than the PS3 (especially in the US)

Maybe it's the "buy america" consumer patriotism, but on a product level... I don't consider the Xbox 360 to be anywhere near as good a value as the PS3.
