Forums - Gaming - Gamestop: 60% of customers won´t buy a console that blocks used games

Guys, this article is different from the one that was posted on February 07 (http://www.gamespot.com/news/gamestop-consumers-unlikely-to-buy-next-gen-console-that-blocks-used-games-6403609)

This new story is here: http://www.vg247.com/2013/02/12/gamestop-60-of-customers-wont-buy-a-new-console-that-blocks-used-games/

That´s the second time Gamestop mentions the issue, which makes me think they´re not ruling the rumor out.

I´d say they pulled that 60% statistic out of thin air, but I don´t care about that, what i do care about is they´re again talking about the no used games rumor..it´d look like they´re in some sort of damage control mode, which in turn makes that dreaded rumor potentially true.

I´d be lying if I said I´m not worried :/

“Sony has said publicly that they don’t intend to block used games on its next console. Microsoft has refused to or has not commented on the rumours.”

So much for the rumors about Sony's patents appearing on PS4.

I probably wouldn't buy a console that didn't allow used games. It's pretty much the main benefit of a console... and well games go out of print faster then i have time to play them al.

It's hard to believe any statistics for used games that come out of Gamestop's mouths... but, they seemed quite worried about this.

Or is it 60% of Gamestop stores won't sell a console that blocks used games.
Or 60% of Gamestop stores will be closed when that happens.

Sadly the days of specialized game stores are almost over. If blocking used games is not going to do it, digital distribution will.

I also would never buy a console that blocks used games.this also means that we cant bring a game to a friends house because it will be considered used

VITA 32 GIG CARD.250 GIG SLIM & 160 GIG PHAT PS3

Didn't GameStop recently close 500 locations?

They are hurting regardless of the used game lock rumors. And good riddance.

Never bought anything from GameStop and I havent bought any used games since 2002 so cant say this will affect me much (the notion of used games being blocked I mean).

has there ever been a game you wanted that was out of print then in over the past 10 years?

Blocking used games won't hurt console sales, if the console has the games people want, but it will hurt new game sales for just-less-than-top-tier titles. People won't be able to justify $60 on those any more because they can't get any back on trade.

Wait, don't you live in Japan? Or did you just read all the bad things about them?
