I've never played a Silent Hill game.  I love the tension horror games like Amnesia, Slender, and the early REs

I've seen bad reviews for Silent Hill HD collection and I really want to try it out, but are these games still a great experience even with messed up fog and such.  Also is Silent Hill 1 worth picking up on PSN?

Silent hill games, 1, 2 and Shattered memories are fantastic horror puzzle/action adventure games

Shattered Memories is shockingly great but definitely not scary with very little tension

The bad reviews are because the games were released based on unfinished code I believe. I think the PS3 version was updated to fix that, but the 360 users weren't so lucky.

Silent Hill 2 is the one to play if you're gonna play just 1.

huh must've been before I joined.  Wish I had been around for that.

I bought the HD remake for the 360. I played 2 and didn't hate it, haven't gotten around to playing 3 yet but if it's cheap enough I'd say it's worth grabbing.

I would suggest you start with SH1 then buy the HD collection because without spoiling here is a hint one of the two games on the HD collection might have something to do with the original game.

They are completely seperate stories and games.

1 and 3 ar somewhat connected but all silet hill games are pretty much standalone games that don't requrire you to play the requels.
