Forums - Sony - Is it just me or does it seem like Sony makes you do an update like every month?

I don't play my ps3 a lot but when I do I have to wait for an update to install which can take 20-40 minutes.  It totally kills the momentum I have going in.  By the time my system has finally restarted Im already doing something else.

Im just shocked that nobody else on hear complains about this.  And I don't just mean first time game installs but actual updates.  So do updates get in the way of your experience?

Yeah there are a ton of updates, especially with it growing. It does not really get in the way of my gaming. WoW used to get patches and updates every week when it was expanding too fast.

I don't think there are that many and mine certainly don't take as long. Then again i have ps+ so it does most of the updates automaticly when i'm sleeping.

Also as basilzero said you don't have to do the updates, just cancle them and play the game and update whenever you have time.

I mean both system updates, game updates, updates for YouTube, Netflix etc...

I can't skip them, it always makes me install or else I get kicked out of my program I want to run.

I feel like I could possibly troll the Wii U about it's Updates, but I have nothin'...!

Or was that the troll comment?! Mysterious!

Yes, but there's not much sense to post it on here. It won't change a single thing and just keeps the "omg, the whole VGC community hates my favourite console/company for senseless reasons" going. (just look at the posts "hey wa what about 360 updates, first day, bla, Wii U bricks omg" when the PS3 is obviously worse)

I don't play much PS3 myself, only some exclusives. And I always have to update the system or games. And yes, I also lose interest while it's updating. Some updates are just insanely huge and installing everything is a pain in the butt. And I will never let a system run all day long or put on stand-by just for that crap. Installing stuff (if not volitional) should be banned from consoles. Just one more reason I don't play much on that console.

Am I the only one that likes all the updates? I mean they wouldn't make them if they didn't make at least something better.

Nope. There hasn't been a PS3 update in MONTHS. You just said you don't play PS3 a lot. Maybe you should check out the news and see when a new update is available and update it so when you do feel like playing it'll be a quick process? Just a quick thought. This is all on you.

System updates happen about every other month. Some are large but most aren't that big of a deal. It's only when they stack up after several months that they should be annoying. I would usually just have it update later and turn itself off. Game updates are the same, I would skip them, play the game, then update it afterwards.

Of course, now with PS+, my PS3 updates automatically when I'm asleep, so I'm good.

In the amusing department, I knew a guy who bought a PS3 just for the Blu-Ray player. It was several YEARS before he found out it had online functionality. When he got WiFi, he said it took a full day and night to update.
