Sony can make a exception, but their 2 gen history is very telling.

You make a great point but things are different this time.

The Playstation Meeting this year is taking place in America.(New York to be exact). All the previous Playstation Meetings took place in Japan.

This shows that America is a focus for the PS4 more so than it was for the PS3 or PS2 or even the Vita. So a 2013 seems likely especially considering that an insider confirmed this to EDGE.

You are being just as optomistic as I am. But even going by handheld trends, which are also the same for both PSP and Vita, its bad news. PSP announced in 2004, launched only in Japan in 2004. Vita announced in 11 and released in only Japan in 11.

So if PS4 releases just in Japan for 2013, that gives MS NA and a head start in Europe. Or, if it follows the console trends, then MS will have a global head start. In fact I take it back, your being a ton more optomistic then I am, since I am using Sonys very own history

Maybe a head start of a few months.  You honestly think that will help MS?  They had a headstart of 1 1/2 years in most regions in EU, yet the PS3 is ahead of the 360 by 5.5M.  EU may choose to treat the NeXbox like the Wii U when it is released, since they will have to wait a max of 6 months til the PS4 comes out.  The only region MS has a shot at is the US.  However, since the PS3 will be releasing around the same time (within a 6 months period) and for around the same price (within $50, most likely), Sony has a good shot at reclaiming a lot of marketshare it lost to MS.  Again, good luck, MS.

Not for much longer. 

Dont see the location change as a big deal, as news travels instanteously around the globe regardless of location. But guess we shall see if they break the cycle. I assume E3 will have a release date announced.

It is a VERY BIG DEAL. Thell the press is invited and so are investors. This alone guarantees MUCH better coverage and nothing gets lost in translation.

Location and language of these press conferences speaks directly to what kind of market they are going for, or which is their main priority. You do don't see Apple announcing the next iPhone in Spanish on some Mexican city do you? NO.

Apple is an American company with the US as its biggest market. Sonys is Europe but each individual country is small relatively in population, not to mention the language differences. The U.S is perhaps what Sony is really going after. Itll create a media buzz sure, but that isn't an indication of a fall 2013 launch. Your just as wishful as me at this point. E3 will settle this.
