Forums - Gaming - PS4 announcement this month is bad news for both WiiU and Nextbox

The premise of this topic assumes that the PS4 will actually be good and have a decent launch. If Sony has another $599 USD moment, it won't hurt anyone.

Around the Network

never worry for NextXBOX cause they got the biggest gaming market US fanbase...

I was responding to you saying " You're saying that people are mocking people based on... what nobody knows yet."

and

"Mocking people over something that has no grounds for debate isn't really going to push the conversations in a constructive direction."

In response to my previous post:
"They're mocking people who think WiiU stands no chance against the likes of PS4 because it will have better hardware."

See, I was right. You reading comprehension is so bad you don't even understand what you yourself are saying.

Yet nobody I replied to mentioned anything about the power of the hardware... People mocked the PS4 and the Vita because they didn't fare as well as Nintendo's systems during their respective gen, and they did while implying that the situation would repeat itself during this gen.

I was never commenting based on the power of the system.

And you talk about my reading comprehension?

You know what, I'm going to take some time to explain.

. People have been going on and on about how WiiU will be stepped all over by PS4 and 720 because they will be more powerful and 'next gen'.

. Turkish makes thread in which he says  WiiU won't attract much attention compared to the 'next gen' PS4 because you know, many people don't consider WiiU 'next gen' by their standards.

. N-magic laughs at Turkish because he sees this is similar to how alot of people think 3DS wouldn't stand a chance once against the Vita because it would have more powerful hardware and be 'next gen'.

. You jump in talking about how just because a hardware maker's recent console was the market leader, that doesn't mean it's new console would be market leader, which had shit to do with n-magic's point. He never said anything like ' Wii U would beat PS4 in sales because Wii sold most last gen'. He was merely scoffing at people who always seem to think the weaker console would be dominated by the more powerful console just because it is more powerful and fits their standard of what next gen should be.

. I point this out to you.

. You replied with 'That was basically the point I made with my comments', when it actually really wasn't .

. This prompted me to believe that you lacked reading comprehension because what you said was not the same point as what N-Magic and I made. You were pointing out that  a console was not guaranteed to be gen leader just because its' predecessor was. We were pointing out that it's stupid for people to think PS4 would step all over Wii U just because it was more powerful.

And so on and so forth, blah blah blah, yadee yadda, etc, etc...

The way I see it, both your interpretation and mine could be correct.

But I re-read the thread, and what you say isn't what I got from the replies here. I already explained how I saw it. Even Turkish didn't mention the power of the hardware per se. He mentioned the hype and even mentioned how, in his opinion, Microsoft (coming with a console more powerful than the Wii U ^_- ) would struggle against both Nintendo and Sony. So, pardon me if I didn't interpret it the way you did, mister Nintendo's white knight.

So, to keep your line of thought, PS2 was the least powerful of its gen (if you dismiss the Dreamcast), yet it suceeded over all the others. =P

"Whatever Nintendo was gonna announce at that show, it won't attract as much attention as the next gen"

People like Turkish have been making snide comments about Wii U not being next gen since Last E3.

As for you calling me a 'white knight', I'm not surprised since that's the kind of thing people resort when they can't do any better.

Your last sentence is ultimate proof you still don't really understand anything. i'm done wasting my time, I can't help you.

No lol, 3DS sold like shit remember?

PS: and I honestly hope that you don't think I play fucking Wii Music

Yes, but then it kicked off reasonably well. Not original DS numbers, but it's still selling ok. The Vita, next to it, is abysmal.

Hynad, I think he's pointing out that it took a while for the 3DS to pick up sales, something in the range of 6-8 months, if I recall. We're just past 2 months since the Wii U launch, so it has potential to pick up and catch on, like the 3DS did.

I think the comparison from PS2 to PS3 is a bit invalid, in the sense that Sony got to pompous and thought a pricetag of $500+ was acceptable. Sony gave a big FU to their fanbase doing that, whereas Nintendo's main flaw was rushing to market with a few launchtime bugs and a light launch lineup.

Oh, I got that you're the sensitive kind. Don't worry about it. Serious business and all that jazz.

Around the Network

1) Nintendo already lost any buzz in February by not releasing any new games. So PS4 is not affecting that in any manner.

2) MS will actually get plenty of buzz when they announce their plans AFTER Sony. They will actually be able to potentially kill off any PS4 buzz this way.

In reality its not much of a big impact either way.

Turkish you never seem to surprise me. I am excited about the PS4 but how you instantly make this into a competition is beyond me. It will not effect wiiU because most people do not even know about this meeting besides a few people across the internet and gaming forums. Two it will have no effect on the NeXbox because as soon as it gets revealed the same exact thing is going to happen, the internet will blow up. But i guess if you like worshiping sony that much keep making these "unbiased threads" that you warned us about

It will depend if Microsoft can pull off something that doesn't apear to be a me-too. Kinect will probably be bundled from the get-go, but it will have to have matured a great lot to convince hardcore gamers that this really is the future.

As for Sony, I don't expect much novelty from them. I don't think they'll inovate a great deal, and will continue to cater to the more "old school" kind of gamers who want a good controller with better visuals...

I'm not really that hyped for the next gen right now. Wii U included. I will most likely get the consoles anyway, when the good games start to come out, but at this point, I'm not really fooling myself into thinking any of the 3 will bring any kind of revolution.

was there a thread following the Kaz statement "we will not show before competition does"

OT

It may be better to announce something now, it may not.

In the end it matters far more when the things are released, how much they cost and how interesting they are,

The timing of an announcement means jack, unless you want it to.

Not that I disagree with your statement at all, but you make it too easy.

I still remember back to 2005/6 when Sony accounced PS3. People said PS3 will blow 360/Wii easily. Now the same talk repeats again. Ok, Sony wins, PS4 wins even before it launches in the market.

Shit, why am I so serious. This is a typical tread from Turkish just praise everything from Sony and downplay everything from Microsoft/Nintendo.

You are ill informed. I was praising Nintendo last week for Windwaker remake, I made 2 threads about it so take your generic "Tuhkish is teh Zony biased" nonsense out of my thread because I will set the record straight. You are not the one to accuse others of being biased with your history.

About your other comment: I had an exam today so no hiding, if I wanna enjoy flamewars I will participate and not watch from the sideline.
