Forums - Gaming - EA on Wii U: "What we describe as "Gen 4" is yet to come."

That may be true, but it is still quite the assumption to assume that the Wii U would cause them to turn that around.

I made no comment about the idea of EA doing better if they put effort into the Wii U, mostly because I suspect that their "good Wii U game" would be mediocre at best, anyway. I don't have a lot of respect for most of EA.

But you claimed that EA had posted huge profits in the last two quarters, and that's clearly false. In fact, in the last two quarters, they've had a net loss across the two no matter which way you judge it (although whether it happened due to first or second quarter is up for debate).

Your last paragraph is pretty much a repeat of your previous post.

The statement was not for you alone. Tons on people assume all the time that if a third party makes more games for Nintendo there are mountains of gold waiting in their future.

And fine, I happen to have enjoyed a lot of EA's games this gen so them making it on current and future consoles I own is relevant to me.

Not "mountains of gold" necessarily, but "more profit than they would get otherwise," which should be enough for any sane business.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

It's not like EA makes good games anyway. I just understand why they are so bitter and angry towards Ninty. What went down?

Wii U to PS4 won't be such a huge disparity compared to Wii and 360. The diffrence will be around PS2 to Xbox1 at the very most!!!

That's what Nintendo fans dreams but the reality is other.

PS4 or Nextbox will have at least 10x (1000%) more power than Wii U... PS2 to Xbox is only 30% gap.

It's so sad you want your favourite company to go bankrupt.

LOL it is sad that someone fanboy's just don't know what they are saying

ok ignore my previous attempts to say EA wasn't attacking WiiU. I read more (quote I added above) and talked to more on gaf as well, yeah EA is clearly not counting WiiU in their "gen4" definitions.

fucking EA. Their hate for Nintendo is strong.

Fucking Nintendo, I'd say, whom cannot make a sufficient home console.

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

Yeah, I know - look at how badly the Wii sold, and the DS, and the 3DS. I mean - the only reasonable thing to do is to make a highly-powerful system. That's the only way to attract third parties. That's why Ubisoft, Sega, Square Enix, and Capcom aren't putting major titles on the system...

The Wii and DS offered something new that hadn't been done before, and both systems sold like crazy to "casuals"; to people that never had gamed before. Wii U isn't doing that. And taking a quick look at 3DS tells us that it's only Japan that is saving the system, it's actually not selling that well in the West (which the DS did). And most of those 3rd parties you mention will ensure Nintendo to swoop up Japan, it leaves a lot to be desired for in the West, with only Ubisift being the Western publisher putting some effort behind the system.

Hadn't the iPad been released Wii U could have taken off like the Wii did, but this isn't a business of "If", "when", or "could and should", it's a business of "have and haven't". Right now what Wii U haven't got is games, and the question is if it'll get them later on.

First of all, it's still doing a number of things that haven't been done before. And the whole "casuals" argument is purely a red herring - many amongst the "hardcore" like to disparage the "casualz", suggesting that they're fickle, that they're less valuable or less consistent than other gamers, or something like that. Many like to suggest that someone Microsoft "stole" the "casualz" from Nintendo with Kinect. None of these make any sense. "Casuals", by the way, are not the same as "new gamers", who are people that never had gamed before.

And sure, the Wii U isn't currently selling massively to the mainstream. That's no big surprise - it's not a phenomenon the way that the Wii was. But the mainstream is just like the typical gamer, in that they'll "upgrade" when given sufficient reason to do so. That means more than one or two games, given the current price of the system. It takes time.

Also, Ubisoft isn't the only Western publisher putting some effort behind the system. Warner Bros and Disney are both supporting the system quite strongly. Also noteworthy is Codemasters (mostly due to them bringing Dirt to the system - I know Codemasters isn't a particularly well-regarded publisher, but they still count).

And as even EA themselves said in the same call that the quote this thread is based on came from, you should never count Nintendo out.

Took a look at recent EA games:

bulletstorm: didn't like
burnout : fun series
crysis 2: didn't like
dead space : awesome
dead space 2 : crap
dead space 3: ?
dragon age : crap
fifa: great
mass effect: crap
nfs: i like hot pursuit a lot XD
shank : I loved it on pc

some of these games probably sold very well, but yeah, I couldn't stand them, in other words, I wouldn't care about EA support if I had a wii u.

What I describe as bunch of idiots, crap, shitty company etc is already here its EA.

EA noone needs your shitty origin get over it already I mean are you all babies? Do a THQ and get lost already ;)
