Apple has no competition in the tablet market, I'm disappointed with the lack of high res screens on Android tablets(higher than 1920x1080), and I keep waiting on Surface Pro that should've come out this month.

Uh, the Nexus 10 has a higher resolution screen than the iPad.

Congrats, the only Android tablet to do so and its not even available worldwide while a new iPad comes out just weeks after the announcement. I also heard its not as smooth and fast as the iPad 4.

It isn't. We bought a tablet for my mom, so naturally we tried out quite a few of them. The iPad4 has a better screen than all of the Android tablets, even if its resolution may be slightly worse than the one of the Nexus10 the overall impression is still better due to a better background lighting. Also, iOS seems to be the better firmware.

similarly to consoles vs pc, iOS has the advantage that it's written directly for certain hardware configurations, while android has to work with a wide variety of configs, so yea iOS usually works better

but personally I don't want to invest into apples closed economy and the difference between my 150€ 7" android and a 330€ 7.9" iPad mini just isn't worth paying twice the money for me

It was her 50th birthday and she usually minds prices very much. So this one time she didn't have to care about the price she fine with paying substantially more for a slightly better device :D

Congrats to you too. iPad an overpriced tablet in the tablet market..i'm disappointed with good pricing on Apple tablets.

iPad is more smooth and has better resolution but is overpriced..and in the end a better priced product will sell..that is why android shipments keep on rising over the years..What you have stated is just your opinion..you cant justify apple has no competition in tablet market..one can say android too doesn't have any competetion in mobile OS market(keeping in mind of lack of competitive priced devices from competition).

How is the iPad overpriced? Because it doesn't compete with Google subsidizing their Nexus line of tablets and phones to gain marketshare?

Logic fail. Most companies try to sell their products at a profit. Just because Google doesn't subscribe to that model doesn't mean that every other tablet on the market is overpriced. The base model iPad is very competitive at $500.

How is Nexus 10 not smooth then..just becuase it doesn't compete with iPad smoothness? you fail. and its not like Google is selling nexus 10 at a loss..profit margin is just less.Do you think surface RT is overpriced ? .. well because it offeres more features than iPad at the same price.

How much marketshare does the iPad have? Last I heard it was 80% or something. I'm not an iOS user, I use a S2 and looking out for Xperia Z, but when it comes to high end tablets, Android platform is a joke.

53.8 % Apple tablet market share.

And yes Android high end tablets is a joke...but it will improve. it is not like iPad became a high end tablet overnight.

Nexus 10 is here and more high res android devices will come soon..just like recent surge of 1080 p 5 inch android phones.

Nexus 10 is only available in a few countries and I heard it is slow.

Sony trying the same with PSV memory. Works out pretty good for them. Great PSV sales across all 3 regions.

Yeah, that's overpriced. Well, the $100 upgrade from 64gb to 128gb is actually alright. It's the 16gb to 32gb upgrade that's bugging me because that's $100 as well

On a related note I miss the times when I could just use my Apple devices without people telling me left and right how stupid I am for owning them. It's totally blown out of proportion ("my phone / tablet / computer is 5% cooler than yours, you damn sheep!")

Now you get a reading comprehension fail. I said nothing of the iPad or the Nexus "smoothness".

And why would I think the Surface RT is overpriced? What brought that into this conversation? It has a decent feature set but hardware-wise, the iPad 4 annihilates it. Much better screen, much better processor. But for $500, I think it's a fine device. Not something I want for myself but I can see the appeal.

You're the one calling devices overpriced, not me. I simply stated that Apple's pricing schema on storage upgrades is ridiculous for what you get, not that any device itself is overpriced.

PS. Google may not be selling the Nexus at a loss (Again, I didn't say that... Seriously? Can you read?) but they are selling it for little or no profit. That's fine when your strategy is to make money on the user experience but most companies can't do that. It makes me wonder what Samsung thinks of Google's current strategy of pricing the Nexus 10 so low that no other Android third party vendor can match it. I doubt it pleases them much.

no worry you are not taking sides..you produce some statements and then counter them yourselves.(iPad is sold at a profit margin of around 40%). you are fine with $500 for base device..but $800 for 128 GB is ridiculous .. so those $300 extra for you as a huge profit margin is where you will draw a line..to me the actual 40% is overpriced and i draw the line there.

you wrote

Most companies try to sell their products at a profit

which sounded like Google doesnt sell at a profit in the context.. which i think i read correctly.. you should re read your sentences again

that is absurd, who ever buys this I feel sorry for you and your love for apple. how can people complain about a ps3 costing 599 when things like this are even more. A next gen console will be far more powerful and expensive to make but will cost far less.
