Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft's Surface with Windows 8 Pro to go on sale February 9

$899 to $999? well fuck that!

Around the Network

Way too expensive. I see it selling to mainly business clients more than the average consumer.

Just get an RT if you are a typical tablet user. It does everything you need in a tablet.

I don't understand why people think this is in some way gimped but think the iOS on an iPad is ok?

The iPad is a way more gimped version of the MacOS than the RT is of Windows8.

Nsanity always complained about iPad price too, and he is not alone, A lot of people think that the iPad is overpriced, and they expected windows tablets to be cheaper, similar to the PC vs Mac situation.

They will be cheaper eventually I guess.

Great news. I have the Surface RT 64gb right now and I LOVE it.
My wife (who is using a Windows Phone 8 and a iPad) was waiting after this news to get my Surface RT while I would get the Surface Pro :)

Does not seem to be able to pre-order on the MS website, anyone find out if we can pre-order it already?

See my post above regarding Dell.  I think the Surface will always be the premium device for RT.  Nothing wrong with that.  Android phones have massive variances in price running the same OS, it can work in tablets too I think.  I dotn see why Windows tablets should be cheaper than iPad's though, particularly as they are in many ways superior.

I totally agree with you, I am not saying they should be cheaper (but they will), just pointing out why some people would think otherwise. Apple's tablets (and their Mac computers) have always had to bear the stigma of being overpriced and offering less features, so those peope probably applied the same logic expecting windows tablets to be much cheaper, and they will be cheaper in a year or so, they'll just have to wait. (except for the surface ofc).
