PS4 has a dedicated GPU on top of the APU. |
I see. That makes even less sense...
Sony could make a call to Intel or IBM who would in 15 minutes provide them with a CPU more powerful, with lower TDP, for less money than the A10 or a variant of that architecture. A10 has a benefit of having an GPU but if they are adding a second GPU on top, it makes absolutely no sense to use an APU.
Prices below I used are purely OEM speculative and slightly less than current retail but:
A10 APU ($100) + 6670 GPU (50$) in crossfire would get owned by an Intel G860 (50$) + dedicated 7770/8770 ($100)

Lets wait for official specs. Everdy new rumours appear.
If it's true, surely they mean a discrete GPU aside from the APU for the PS4.
Well Feb/May/e3 can't come soon enough.

the latest rumor is that that's only for dev kits and that the final APU will combine them together into one. Both are said to be similar so not sure what disolitude is going on about
anywho since we already talked about it let me drop off yet another rumor I saw (yes another one) but this one is about the PS4 controller
From the user coldfoot over at gaf. It goes without saying to take these with a mountain of salt BUT it's fun to speculate :D
My insider is saying:
1. They have tried putting the move colored balls on the DS4 but the latest design omits them.
2. The multicolor led thing is more like the controller edge having a led strip and glowing a different color for more immersion.
3. PS4's will come with a camera bundled.

IGN rumor http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/04/04/sources-detail-the-playstation-4s-processing-specs
There are "insiders" saying that in the end, it'll just be an APU but the GPU will be put in there or something. Specs should be final right about now so expect more leaks in the coming weeks.

Sounds cool. How would that effect battery life or gameplay?
I just want Sony 2 come out and give us some real info in regards 2 specs etc, but im sure some of these old rumors will be correct 2 a point.
I don't think it matters which is more powerful. The least powerful machine will dictate the quality of the software unless whoever has the post powerful console can supply the gamer with a handful of exclusives every year. How many 3rd party developers utilised the full potential of Blu-ray and how many 3rd parties fully committed the architecture of the Cell?
I don't take this rumor all too seriously, but:
1.84TFlops - 736Gflops (for the A10-5800k according to AMD) leaves 1.1 Tflops for the GPU, which is slightly less than a HD 7770, which has 1.28 TFlops (GHz edition) according to AMD
