People don't seem to realize that the new Radeon HD8000 series just been paper launched are rebadges of the 7000 series.

Websites are making analysis based on those specifications, which are completely wrong.

The "Real" Sea Island/8000 series isn't due for at least a few months and possibly a lot longer and no specs are known on that yet.

All the rumours so far on the 8000 series being used in terms of making light of the specification are based on faulty data. All those spec sheets for the 8000 series are just the OEM version.

Sounds a bit crazy but it's true. Everyone was expecting the "Sea Island" architecture to launch around now, but the stuff being touted for release is not "Sea Island". It's 7000 based junk and not what the NextXbox for example will be based on. Lots of crossed wires with stupid journalists at the end of those wires with crossed eyes.

Well, we have no release date for the Nextbox either. So, would that mean the Nextbox will even be more powerful and expensive?

No, it means that the NextXbox will likely be using Sea Island based architecutre which will scale from low-high end. It means that we can expect a powerful next gen console at a reasonible price. It's quite clear the NextXbox is going to be released this Holiday.

Much like when the Xbox 360 released using graphics technology that wasn't to be released on the PC for a few months down the line.

Same could be true here, some people are saying Sea Island won't debut at the high end until January next year.

That would be exactly what happened with the Xbox 360. There's no way old tech is going to be used in it, if only for die shrink reasons.

Oh well, fine with me. Might end up getting a Nextbox too afterall...
