Forums - Gaming - Will the graphics war be over after next gen?

i think next gen will b out to run games smoother not with far better graphics. Hey, there should be a generation that improves things without rising to much the cost. Let the developers catch up. I don't see neither 32" 4k TV's drop to $300 on the next 5 years, so there you go. What is the reason to release Super Mario World in full 1080p on 1994, if that technology was like 100 times more expensive?

If the rumors of both PS4 and 720 are true, and if these 2 consoles have graphics capabilities that are almost identical so that the difference between them is less than 1%, then yes the great war will be over. We can disregard the Wii U as Nintendo bailed out of the graphics war nearing a decade ago, so their not even a contender.  As for PC master race, they live in a parallel universe were console don't exist.

Which is unfortunate, because the Gamecube was one hell of a graphical powerhouse.  Sure the XBox could do so things better, but the Gamecube was a really great piece of hardware for its time.

My consolation will be that even if its not really that powerful, the Wii U should provide me with plenty of great time with its HD versions of the Zelda and Metroid franchises.  Even if they're not the best of the best, graphics-wise, playing those 2 franchises with the added details of HD resolutions will provide some really awesome environments to delve into with the tone and mood particular to those 2 series.
