Now that completely changes the tone of his remarks. I thought already released and reviewable by the public.

Not really, he is saying "Any bad Review" but didnt mention the "Good Reviews" made by crazy fanboys of the series - otherwise he would of said "Any review now before the game's release is a fake one".

Still doesn't work. Many of the reviews out now are legitimate.

Oh, well - there goes my arguement lmao.

Edit: And the developer's statement.

Certainly wasn't a properly worded statement.

Except that the only people with copies of the game were sent the game directly from Ninja Theory. That means Ninja Theory knows who they sent the game to and who they didn't. When they read a bad review all they have to do is check to see if that "reviewer" was sent a legit review copy. They probably also requires embargo contracts so they'd also have those to check with. The reviews they are warning people about are not from IGN or Gamespot or EGM. Ninja Theory is warning people about the wannabe websites that post junk and lies for hits and dumbass hater fantards who trash the game for changing Dante's hair to black. They know who they sent review copies to and they know they didn't send them to wannabe reviewers with cheap Wordpress websites.

I am guessing the embargo thing means they can only release the reviews after the game is released right? Hmm...I think I understand now.

Or a predetermined date set by agreement between Ninja Theory and the reviewer. With big games like Halo 4 most of the reviews couldnt' post untill the 2-3 days before the game launched. Some embargo contracts don't let the reviews out untill after the game hits and some let the reviewer post it as early as they want so long as they don't show footage from anything but trailers. It depends on what the publisher wants.

Not necessarily. It can be any date set by the contract. Like a week before release, in this case. It's also very possible for different review websites to have different dates upon which the embargo can be broken, as per individual contracts. Might be why we've seen reviews from some places like GameInformer, but not IGN yet.
