Forums - Gaming - Is Mario not being on top weird for anyone else?

It's just weird to me seeing NSMBU not being the best selling game on WiiU.  I can understand Nintendoland outselling it as it's bundled, but Skylanders Giants is just weird to see ahead of it.  Anyone care to explain and are people finally getting Mario fatigue (a little obviously as it still has sold millions and will sell millions more)

EDIT:  My mistake I read Skylanders giants Wii as Skylanders Giants WiiU.  The Wii version is at 1.4m so it is higher than Mario's 1m but obviously has over twice as many weeks on market.  Still though NSMBU seems to have less of a splash as everyone was going crazy with the original and Wii ones.  Feel free to make lifetime sales predictions.

what are you talking about?

Im not sure New super Mario bros U and 2 will do as good as The Wii and DS Versions, its too samey and people know it.

Atto Suggests...:

Book - Malazan Book of the Fallen series

Game - Metro Last Light

TV - Deadwood

Music - Forest Swords

Mario U should outsell Nintendo Land eventually.

not to mention the fact that the new ones are both releasing on systems that are less popular than the ones before

3DS is selling at virtually the same rate as the DS. 25 million hardware sold after 94 weeks.

In total sales, Skylanders is far behind. Mario is second only to Nintendoland, and a close second at that. I agree it's odd to see Skylanders higher this last week, but it won't have nearly the legs that Mario will.

That said, I wish NSMBU a longevity as strong as the DS/Wii games since it totally deserves it - it's the best 2D Mario game since the Super Nintendo (my opinion).

EDIT: Ah, I made the same mistake as the OP regarding this last week's global sales (Skylanders Wii vs WiiU). Damn power of suggestion... :P

true, but by the time NSMB came out on DS had a larger install base (i could be wrong) now NSBW2 will probably leg it out, but i dont see that happening for NSMBWU

NSMB was released in DS's week 77 to an install base of 18.3 million. NSMB2 was released in 3DS's week 74 to an install base of 18.4 million.

NSMBU is a completely different case from other New Super games, being the only one released at launch. So we'll see how that works out for it.
