Exclusive Thief Screenshots

Our recently announced Thief cover story is loaded with details and imagery, but there are two screens you haven't seen anywhere else. Be sure to click on the images to see them blown up in full detail.

The screen above shows Garrett doing what he does best. This ornate bottle is one of the many valuable items players will scout out and steal throughout the game.

This shot provides a wide view of the House of Blossoms, the lavish brothel that Garrett infiltrates during the demo that we saw for the cover story. Notice all of the dark corners to hide in and tempting valuables to grab.

If you missed it, check out our Thief cover reveal, and be sure to return to the Thief hub for new stories and videos all month long.

Report: EA May Add New Sports Franchises

Electronic Arts’ chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen said “a couple of new sports franchises” may be added to the developer’s stable of sports games.

The revelation came during the Wedbush Technology Conference today. While answering a question about EA’s planned releases, Jorgensen pointed out that EA “didn’t necessarily cancel” the NBA Live franchise, just that it wasn’t delivered on time.

"For us, the big opportunities continue to be the FIFA franchise, the Battlefield franchise and then the core sports [franchises] of Madden, NCAA , NHL, adding NBA, and possibly a couple of new sports franchises along that way," Jorgensen said. "Clearly, that's a big strength of the company and we want to continue that."

The UFC series is currently being developed by EA. According to Polygon, a new baseball game may also be in EA's sights now that Take-Two’s (developer of the MLB 2K series) exclusive third-party licensing agreement with Major League Baseball has expired.

Wow .. I totally forgot about Lost Planet 3. Is anybody here interested in getting that game?

I played the first on my friend's 360, but the PS3 version was horribly done so I didn't bother to buy it. The second game is not really story focused so I didn't bother to get that one either. This one is a maybe.

Yea I’m up to date with the GOW: A stuff. Well it is good to know we have such a thread. I’ll post what I can when I can. I’m surprised it’s not as big as the Vita club, however.

well Vitas been beaten so bad, its seems to be the focus of support for the PS community, and if Vitas currents boost in sales continues, or falls off, you're going to see less focus on other threads dealing with anything PS.

Well that is a lot of news. Sorry for not updating the thread for these. I just got off of vacation and now i am a little sick.

"Santa Monica Studios eager to start developing for PS4: "we will blow you away"

Now that Santa Monica Studios is set to release God of War: Ascension next week, their eyes appear set on their next endeavor: the PlayStation 4.

For now, they're still dedicated to the PlayStation 3, especially since this installment of God of War features online for the first time in the series. Mark Simon, lead game designer, confirmed this to Eurogamer:

"To me [the PS4] is imagination land. We haven't touched it. We're not even concentrating on it. All we're concentrating on is we know we release in a week. I imagine we're going to be on our forums talking to players about the stuff they're experiencing in multiplayer and trying to address that stuff immediately. We're going to have half of our team ready to go for that stuff."

However, Mark did show his excitement for the new PlayStation hardware: "Well, the hardware itself has 16 times the memory we had on the previous console. The hardware takes a lot of the shackles off in terms of visuals ... If you give us enough time and you give us those specs, we will blow you away."

For now, all we can do is enjoy the titles that the legendary Sony-exclusive developer has created, and we also have the newest of the developer's vision hitting our PlayStation 3's next week, and, from what PSU's Steven Williamson found in his review, "Ascension delivers an action-packed, gloriously-produced, freak-bashing extravaganza with an addictive multiplayer component to boot." We have our work cut out for us in Ascension, and we can only dream at this point exactly what Santa Monica Studios could do with the massive numbers that the PS4 will tote.
