I was looking at the new trailer and the shot at 1:32 may show an infected Joel that Ellie has to shoot.  What do you guys think of this shot and the subsequent Ellie pointing the gun shot?

But there, Joel might not be infected. 99% chance that he isn't because there will be a sequel of this game. Now it would be shocking than if it was just Ellie. But most likely will not. Mostly because how hard they worked on this duo mechanic, it's highly unlikely to disappear in just the very next game. Plus, I don't think ND is dumb enough to ruin the game on early previews. If he does turn, I can almost promise it isn't there.

but there's no way of knowing for sure now lol we'll have to wait and see

edit : i was actually thinking that probably you kill off joel at the end of this game and you play an older ellie in a sequel if there is one

No, because joel is in what looks to be his winter gear and when it changes to ellie she looks like she is in just a t-shirt, but I could be dead wrong. It's just the way it's clipped together because I don't think they would spoil something that big.
