Forums - Gaming - Top 10 Biggest Flops of 2012: Let's discuss

Someone mentioned Syndicate in your voting thread, which I feel is a good shout.

Also, new numbers are up for all these games, if you're feeling dedicated :P

Was syndicate really expected to do that well though?  I mean it is a reboot but it had no hype and it would seem kind of odd putting it next to games that were all hyped in some regard. I might put it in if anybody can give me a good reason to

i wouldn't call battle royale with 76 a flop or resi 6 with 3m+

Battle Royeale is the biggest sony title this year and people expected it to do a lot better.  It isn't charting very well and the score is not great either.  For a game that has been wanted for more than a decade this has been a huge dissapointment.  Resident evil sold well off of its brand name, not off of quality.  Over all they hurt there brand name though by selling a bad game.

How do you know this? It's possible that the majority of gamers loved Resident Evil 6. Most people don't care about Metacritic.

Well, to be honest with you, I'm not quite sure how you're measuring hype.

I didn't feel like there was any hype around Ninja Gaiden 3 or Dead or Alive 5 but they're on your list.  There wasn't any hype around LittleBigPlanet Karting (you said so yourself in the OP), yet it appears on your list.

You didn't think there was any hype around 007 Legends, despite the fact it was releasing alongside Skyfall and ties in with the film.  Had to take a vote to convince you of that one!

EA wouldn't have revived the IP if they didn't think it had a chance of selling well, clearly it didn't.  But idk.  Your list, your choices I guess :P

what about a 10 biggest hits/unexpected sales,be nice to have some positive stuff going around to argue about

Isn't that just what I said?  People bought it because of it's name, meaning they got it because they like resident evil.  However when they play it and don't like it then it will make them second guess future installment correct?  Metacritic is just used to give you an idea of what people will think of the game.

There are multiple things I took into consideration when making this list.  Brand name, hype, expectations being the three main ones.  I don't see 007 being a big game anymore because they have ruined it years ago which is why I originally decided against it.  All it does is prove my point further, when you start to make bad games, regardless of how good one title being Goldeneye was, people will always second guess buying the next installment.

Nope. It's the exact opposite. You're saying most people were disappointed Re6. How do you know this?
