So I have just finished reading the bookset, up to the latest one - dance with the dragons part 2. Anyone else find it completely disheartening the way author split the supposed book into two? With one book concentrating on Danny and the other on kings landing? I mean for crying out loud, leaving the Jamie on such a cliffhanger and going the whole book without mentioning his fate was just beyond naughty..

But I thoroughly enjoyed the books, and can't wait for the last two or however many there are left to conclude this epic tale. Seeing as none of my friends in real life actually read the books, I thought I would start a discussion on here to see if anyone else has?

Nope I enjoyed every second of the books. He has set the bar for modern fantasy. I can't go back to any other fantasy series without feeling they are childish in comparrisson to ASOIAF

True, the books and plot is good. And the way in which he potrays even the most grotesque events is amazing. I think probably one of the best series I've read in a long time. However I think in some bits the books drag on, like the feast for crows, but in others it escalates extremely quickly - blood wedding etc. Overall though I more than enjoyed the series and can't wait for the ultimate conclusion - whether or when Danny goes to the westeros and the whole slave cities fiasco
