Forums - Sony - And the Black Friday Deal of the Year goes to...

Pretty bad sign to be honest this is probably Amazon trying to shift surplus Vita.

Plus 7 out of 8 of those games a digtal meaning the 4GB Memory Card isn't even going to be close to been enough uncharted on it's own is just under 4GB if I remember rightly, meaning to take advantage of this deal your forced to buy a bigger card.

Fair enough but a couple things. This deal is indeed a great value and many people here are acknowledging this. Just because some people are blowing it out of proportion doesn't mean that you shouldn't be dismissive of their opinions. That being said, this really should have been the base price for the Vita from the beginning as far as I'm concerned.

Value is an economic construct of what people believe something to be worth. It is great savings (as in, it is much lower than the normal price) but it is not great value (it's still too expensive at this price for people who are considering a Vita to jump on it). The system itself is priced higher than its value by definition.

Sony aren't stupid. They are pricing it to maximise profit. Given their financial shape they cannot afford to be a loss leader; investors currently much prefer small unit sales at small profit than large unit sales at no profit, because the latter only makes sense if your company has enough of a future to turn around that loss. All the internet people who say it 'should' be at a lower price are claiming that they are better economists than Sony.

Kaz is correct that the videogame business has the greatest potential upside with a new strategy, but that strategy will have to wait for next generation. His concern right now is stopping the bleeding of the TV unit and a few others.

One thing, when I say that the Vita should be cheaper I also think that they should have launched it in 2010 with considerably scaled down hardware. They didn't really have to worry about killing off the PSP because it's sales were flagging at that point anyway. Personally, I disagree with your assertions that Sony isn't stupid and that the average person is incapable of being a better economist. I consider the incompitence displayed by Sony's executive management to be some of the worst in the industry. Out of all of the divisions to hold onto, why TVs? I swear, I'll never understand some of the decisions that they're making.

PS3 always sold well/sold great/sold out in BF(according to some internet user) until official report
It's not first time,not really surprise me...oh yeah +PSV this time

Nah, from what I saw Sony sold much better than last year. I tend to shop between two Best Buys that are near my house. Last year with Kinect hitting its stride, Sony got its ass handed to them in my neck of the woods. This year Sony is and Microsoft are both selling very well.

ah

Great deal.

I actually managed to get a Vita myself on the amazon.de lightning deals yesterday. 150€ for the Vita and LBP Vita - pretty good imo. Still have to buy a memory card though...

Or you can just download 1 game at a time? Just a thought. There is a content manager that lets you transfer games between PC as well.

@bold
NOPE. Sony was sponsoring Black Friday on Amazon.(at least the video games portion) This is why Amazon got the best deal, and I assume the biggest supply.
These weren't old Vita models that needed to be sold off, these are the new Assassin's Creed bundles. No reason Amazon would want to "get rid" of them.
