Forums - Sony Discussion - SONY set to JUNK status

so it sounds like they can't afford a PS4 launch to me but i suspect comapnies just keep on going til someone turns the lights out,

i wonder if they will get out of the hardware business, hard to see them dropping phones/cameras/console but TV's & Laptops,i am not sure how their laptops sell

why haven't they dropped their TV business before now?it's been so long at a loss, they must still BELIEVE

Well Sony is screwed, the writing was on the wall for a while, it's just now a reality :(

Gaikia/streaming, Sony is banking on this tech as their trump card.

PS4 failing, much as Vita CURRENTLY is, would be the official end of Sonys participation in the console hardware market.

I've been saying it over and over and OVER again, PLAYSTATION MOBILE for android/iOS as well as gaikai streaming will be sony's future. Whether or not PS4/Vita succeed as dedicated hardware you should be ready for a strong profitable smartphone/tablet/streaming future for Sony.

Sony will most likely stay in the hardware business much like nintendo and microsoft, but to be more profitable they will 100% expand into smartphone/tablet gaming apps. There is too much money to be made in the Post-PC marketplace for ANY company to just depend on a 20th century model...

I just don't understand this:

"Steve Durose, Fitch’s head of technology ratings for the Asia-Pacific region, said in a statement. “Sony is the higher risk of the two, hence its lower rating.”

How can you be a higher risk than Panasonic? I thought they were doomed. Perma-doomed.

Good thing I went with the greek bonds instead of their last debt issue.

haha smart move! That'll buy up in like... 100 years ^^

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

So what exactly does this mean?

It's just a rating of the company's consistent decline in specific areas over the years?? Weve basically known this for years now and they are FINALLY deciding to lower it's "rating"? Are we supposed to act like we didn't know that these divisions lost money throughout these past years or something?

what exactly does this mean though @Kowenicki? Am I right or wrong?

Sony's credit rating has been downgraded several times, now it finally hit junk status.

Yea but what exactly is this new "junk" status supposed to be bringing to the table in terms of stuff not being good for Sony though? I mean is this just a rating or is this going to have an effect on Sony that we haven't seen already?

Sony will do fine. They can make a come back. They have many divisions in their company.

Look, people still think PC gaming is junk, and look it is still kicking strong. A lot of people thought Nintendo went under, now look at the Wii. Finally Apple. It was dead in the 90s, now its the richest.
