Nokia Gains on Reports That Lumia Sells Out in Germany

Nokia Oyj (NOK1V) shares rose the most in a month after the company said it received reports that its new Lumia 920 smartphone had sold out in Germany.

The shares rose as much as 5.5 percent to 2.23 euros, the biggest intraday gain since Oct. 18, and traded at 2.22 euros at 11:59 a.m. Helsinki time. The Stoxx Europe 600 Index climbed 0.9 percent as shares around the world snapped the longest losing streak in almost a year.

Nokia is working to make all models available again in Germany after receiving reports that many shops had run out of the Lumia 920, according to a posting on the Espoo, Finland- based company’s Facebook page. Nokia started selling the device, which uses Microsoft Corp. (MSFT)’s Windows Phone 8 operating system, this month.

The company is relying on its Lumia line to revive sales and challenge the iPhone and Android devices. Last month, Nokia posted its sixth straight quarterly loss and said the last three months of the year will be “challenging” as it brings out new models.

Around the Network

That's good to hear. Nokia could need some positive news.

It's a trash stock, sorry guys.

According to ychartz, nokia has lost about five percent revenue on a yearly basis for the past five years, on average

And worse for Nokia, its financial position is getting worse every year, as the company loses more money and gets smaller.

I just looked at its balance sheet to find out how big the company is, and it's retained earnings are about 40% of what they were just 3 years ago, and the only thing you can add to that to cover the bill, is more debt. Even if the reader of this doesn't have an accounting background, you get the idea that it is headed the same place that Sony seems to be, for a corporate breakup and sell off procedure.

This is great, but they should stop limiting themselves on things. I mean the phones are great but why give them as an exclusive to a single network for a little while, way to cannibalize sales of your phones!

Xbox Series, PS5 and Switch (+ Many Retro Consoles)

Prediction: Switch 2 will outsell the PS5 by 2030

They used to be the market leader and got passed up, only to worsen their situation with their partnership with msft. I actuallynfeelmsorrynfor thence people holding onto nokia's stock bc it's going to get worse from here, unfortunately.
