Forums - Gaming - why i am envying Nintendo fans at the moment

My most recent console was 3DS. I didn't get it at launch, but when this beauty came along I had to buy one.

Unboxing was a lot of fun (I did my best to preserve the box, which was NOT easy) and then I played around with the AR cards and Face Raiders for about an hour :)

My Wii U should arrive in a few days, but I won't be able to enjoy it because I'm half-way across the world :(

Picking it up (hopefully) at midnight tonight. Moderately hyped.

My PS3 came from Newegg, didn't really feel a lot, I mean, I knew from the get go that it can't compare to my PC, but I wanted some of the exclusive IPs and I was happy the Uncharted series turned out pretty well on top of my JRPG fills. My Wii, uh, didn't feel a whole lot either, what got me really go wtf with the Wii was Galaxy 1 though, that shit blew my mind and then Galaxy 2 made me go O_Ob!!!!! 360 was really a neutral feeling, 360 was my Halo 3 machine, sold that at the end of 2008 though, XBL made no sense anymore since Gears 2 didn't work too well at the time.

I was fucking ecstatic when I built my current main PC though, look below and you'd see why lol....

with the Wii U I'm just worried they'd run out even though I pre-ordered at Best Buy, they'd better not fuck me.

So you didn't play any of the jrpgs in the 360s library like Lost Odyssey and Tales of Vesperia before selling it? That is the highlight of the 360 library IMO

I'm jealous of ZombieU and a couple of the "launch window" games, but buying a new console at the moment really isn't a consideration for me. I always wait till a library is on solid ground, anyway. I've never bought a console at launch. The tipping point for me is usually when the system has several excellent games plus a few masterpieces.

I've had two experiences with brand new consoles that really stand out for me. The first was the PSOne and Final Fantasy VII. Obviously, at the time, it just blew everything away and really redefined video-games.    The moment I saw the FF VII commerical, I was like, "OK, it's time to get back into gaming."

The second was the PS2 and Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec. I was already a big fan of the series from the first two games but GT3's intro movie left my jaw on the floor and got me really, really excited. It just clobbered everything at the time.

finished them all, but I really didn't get the 360 for JRPGs.

The last game system I bought was the Playstation Vita (Assassin's Creed 3 - Liberation bundle) which was 2nd one for my household and bought actually for my wife because she wanted her own with Smart As game after trying that game on mine and really liking it. She takes it with her when she takes the kids (4 years old) to their pre-school type stuff as it helps her pass the time while the kids do their lessons.

Aside from that she uses the 3DS for similar reason sticking with the various Mario games available on it.

...

Tomorrow, my last game system bought will switch to Wii U (Nintendo Land Deluxe bundle). Most looking forward to trying out ZombiU and Nintendo Land asymetric gaming like Luigi's Ghost Mansion and others.

I am going to hate having to work on Monday

Ehh. Not excited at all by the Wii U. Most of the games I'd be interested in are year old ports of ps3/360 games that might not even be as good as the original.
