Call of Duty Black Ops 2 becomes Amazon’s most pre-ordered game, ever
The upcoming FPS ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops 2′ is sure to beat a lot of sales records this year. One claim that the highly anticipated sequel can already boast about is the ‘Most Pre-ordered’ title in Amazon’s history.
Amazon confirmed the title’s new accomplishment late last night on Twitter. Amazon’s dedicated video-game themed sub-account stated, “Black Ops II broke records and is now our most pre-ordered game ever! Pre-order to get Nuketown 2025 Bonus Map”. It should be noted that this particular ‘Call of Duty’ title has a few advantages over it’s predecessors, the most important factor being that it is launching on four systems and not three (PC, PS3, Xbox 360 and the Wii U). The Wii U building up its own momentum from Nintendo as it prepares to launch on November 18, 2012, just a few days after the game’s release.
Amazon did not break down the statistics on how many titles were pre-ordered on each system. Those numbers are usually disclosed from Activision during investor calls closer to the end of the financial-quarter. Even though the title has broken records, consumers can still pre-order the game from the online-retailer. Activision gave fans a very good reason to pre-order the game this year as well, the popular map ‘Nuketown’ will make its way back into the sequel, this time as ‘Nuketown 2025′ and comes free if you pre-order the game. Activision has stated in the past that the DLC will be made available after launch for those that do not get a chance to pre-order but it will not be free.
The game comes in three editions on most platforms (a Standard Version, Hardened Edition and a Digital Deluxe Edition). The ‘Standard Edition’ and the ‘Digital Deluxe’ versions of the game can still be purchased from online retailers, while the ‘Hardened Edition’ has been sold out at major retailers like Best Buy, GameStop and Amazon.
