Thought after WW2 all remaining empires cut their last connections with their colonies.

I see no real good argument not too. Unlike the UK there isn't a big Queen tourism boom or anything as far as i know.

If anything just take one of the branch families and make them your royalty if you are going to have it.

One error in the op: the queen doesn't govern aussie, she doesn't govern the uk either. In some respects i'd rather have a ceremonial monarch than a governing president. But it's the wider mooching family that comes with the monarch which is problematic. The world's richest dole bludgers aye.
