Its not like we dont' have PS3s, Xbox, or Nintendo in china, i grew up in china when i was younger...playing NES and stuff. There are import stores...and many buy from HK and bring it back as well...u can buy a PS3 in China even before all these, u just go the mall and buy one....They are probably now cheaper as they can "officially" sell them, so they don't have to import and get tax tarrif no it.
Chinese ppl are really rich...u guys are stupid if u think they live on 800 bucks. Houses in Shanghai is more expensive than some houses in California.
its a good start for sony since sony has a really good reputation in china as reliable and brand name. sorry dont have a link to prove my post. there are a lot of poor people in china but also a lot of rich people in china as evident in buying luxury goods and spending 4 times as much for iphones and ipads from scalpers. theres nothing to lose actually for sony. ps3 could become the mcdonald's and kfc's of chinese console gaming if everything goes well.
5 million is seriously the first option?? More like 500k. There's a reason it took so long to release it. If it would sell 5 million minimum they would have released it in 2006 or 2007. Even if they sell any consoles, they will literally sell no games. It's like in Korea where they sell millions of PSPs and DS with no software except the 1 game that they are forced to buy from bundles that Nintendo forces on Korea because they don't buy software. Keep in mind they released the PS3 a long time ago (2007 i believe) in Korea despite all of this. China is actually worse than Korea in this respect and that's why they waited so long.
currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X
I really really do not think so. With anti-Japanese sentiment being so high there, PS3 will do quite terribly there. Also, anyone who wants one already has one through the grey market.
I'd predict 2mil units there lifetime, if that.
There certainly is potential.
e=mc^2

Gaming on: PS4 Pro, Switch, SNES Mini, Wii U, PC (i5-7400, GTX 1060)
I just hope Vgchartz tracks these sales it'd be interesting to see how it does.
Wait.. i thought consoles were banned in china?

Come, let me give you a hug. I'll also ask your mum to buy you your favourite Halo 4 for christmas. But remember, you can only open the present on Boxing Day (26th December.)
Now be a good boy and post more anti-Sony posts. In the meantime I'll get you this giant squeaky hammer so you can smash any PS3s you come across.

The answer is a question... Did the PS1 and PS2 sell in China? If yes, how much?
