Forums - Sony - FIFA 13 sales hit 7.4 million in four weeks

EA sold around 7.4 million copies of FIFA 13 in four weeks, the publisher said today.

This, added EA, makes it "the biggest sports launch of all-time".

FIFA 13 sold 4.5 million copies worldwide in five days, which made it the "biggest videogame launch of 2012 and biggest sports videogame launch of all-time", according to EA at the time.

EA also logged the fastest-selling UK game of 2012 with FIFA 13, which topped the UK software charts (week ended September 29) accounting for 71 per cent of the UK's total video unit sales.

EA today also announced FIFA digital net revenue of over $115 million in the first half of fiscal 13, including FIFA Online 2 and FIFA World Class Soccer that together contributed over $50 million.

What did they announce for 13 that made it sell so well compared to past entries?

VGC has PS3+X360 sales at 6.28m by the 20th.

Nothing really. FIFA has grown a lot of its own merit. I would say some factors are:

1. It's cannibalising PES sales, which has gone down a lot, so what used to be a 50/50 split is now 80/20 or more.

2. Online's getting more popular and it's an awesome game to play online.

3. They are actually really good games now as opposed to before.

Every new FIFA sells better than the previous... the game is the best about futball today in the market.
