There are sites that dont even care about the Technical, they just say what game they think looks better. This never stopped MGS4, Uncharted 2, God of War III and Uncharted 3 from winning though and I think we can all agree they are technical marvels whereas Journey is not as much technical as it is artistically glorious.

Still though, the game does look superb =>

Far Cry 3 and Halo 4 done pretty good consider both were praised for their Artistic and Technical.

I agree with Uncharted 2, God of War III and Uncharted 3, but MGS4? that game wasnt even great looking nor was it a technical marvel.

It was pretty damn stunning for its time imo. Ofcourse it hasnt aged well but I cant help but look at it the way I looked at it during its launch ^.^. It did pretty much dominate its year. But it pulled off some pretty epic stuff that was just glorious to look at. Each chapter had a different environment really and they did some epic stuff. Not to mention it really is the most open out of all games you listed (which does however lead to bad textures etc).

Placing le prediction now:

Ascension takes the graphics this year, unless PS4 games come out this year (I expect them to be delayed) or TLOU really ups its game.

Considering UC3 beat Crysis 2 and when you read the reviews for Ascension: It's pretty clear what the editorial staff of the websites feel :]

Even the C3 reviews didn't really boast as much as C2 did on consoles in terms of graphics.

 

It is a simple case of optimization where the first party of Sony simply knows the PS3 hardware the best.

ANother update! Bioshock Infinite grabs an amazing 95-96 meta as of now. GOTY contender and very very likely the winner might've already been reached. Stay tuned :]

Would also like to pretty much state that I am betting on TLOU winning GOTY for 2013. As for Graphics, I think we should see something really interesting considering next gen launches this year.
Remains to be seen if games such as GoWA and TLOU will get anything by next gen being somewhat ignored for coming out a bit late or if a next gen game gets the most awards in which one has to wonder: Which one?!
