How will this compare to OS X sales this holiday? And will MS be able to keep this numbers up? Not trying to be a pessimist, but I think it's too early to say weather Windows 8 will be successful or not.

It is  orders of magnitude greater than OSX will achieve or has achieved, OSX lion for instance sold approximately 26 million in the previous FY (about 10 months of sales).

Sure, it will obviously outsell OS X in the long run, but your comparison is very much skewed due to higher volume at launch.  OS X Mountain Lion sold 3 million upgrades in the first 4 days to a minuscule fraction of the userbase of Windows.  Windows 8 has very little to brag about saleswise at this early point in time.

You're using a forum poster as a source?

Isn't like 85% of computer market owned by Windows? Why compare it to OSX? Windows sales should be compared to other Windows sales... how does it fare agains't Win 7 and XP?

yes and then 3 months to reach 6 million. Apple has always had a very loyal core base . but after that sales rapidly fall off. He asked how it compares and I answered, it really doesn't compare.
