No he wasn't.
Mongol empire was at it's biggest after Genghis Khan's death. Regardless, the max British Empire was bigger than the max Mongol Empire.
British Empire in 1938 was 8 billion acres.
Mongol Empire in 1279 was 6 billion acres (less than the current queen)
That makes King George VI (1938) a bigger landowner/the biggest(?).

Yea, it wasn't totally accurate remark but they have owned England in the past and they chose England's monastaries first when they started plundering. Remember Danelaw? England has been decently influenced by Vikings and this is probably how they started getting good at sea power.
