This post is just me boasting about how AMAZING PS Plus is.

Alright I literally got PS Plus for the first time 10 minutes ago (I've had a PS3 for almost 4 years). I NEVER realized how much content you could get for free. I paid 18$ for 3 months and have already gotten 80$ worth of content for FREE. I'm sorry but if you are an avid Playstation gamer and you don't have PS Plus then you should be ashamed of yourself (lol). Seriously though, does Xbox live offer anything else other than the ability to play online? I'm not trying to start a hate thread but I just simply can't understand why someone would choose Xbox Live over PSN. I'm so mad that I missed out on the Red Dead Redemption thing for September. Just got inFamous 2 so I guess I'll be fine =P.  Does anyone know if they offer these amazing games for free every month? Like for example I know in September it was Red Dead and I'm guessing this month it's inFamous. PS PLUS IS THE GREATEST.

I don't understand how you can say you paid for it and then got something for free in the same sentence!

Alright well I paid 18$ and got 80$ worth of content. So I guess I should have said that i got 62$ worth of content for free.

Read what I said. If I paid 18$ then anything that I get which exceeds my 18$ purchase is essentially "free".

Because XBL has proven to be superior over PSN.  Messages, inviting friends, party chats, avatars,etc is all that makes XBL better.  I'm not saying PSN is bad, but it's not as good as XBL either.  A good free service would be steam which does many things as good as XBL but better sometimes too.  Why I don't care about PSN+ is because the content that they have I simply do not want.  What I want I buy and I get it earlier when I buy it myself.  I want Journey, so I buy it, I'm not going to wait for PSN+ to offer it.

Too much flamebaiting, with the usual suspects rising to the bait, but still, I agree that PS+ has turned into an excellent service. I really, really hope that Sony keeps this model for next gen, as I personally believe it blows away LIVE for value, and I will always, always believe that base online gaming should be free.

If both companies keep their current subscription models, and all else is near equal, then I will likely go with a PS4 over the 720.

I guess it all depends on what you prefer. Myself for instance, I personally do not care about things such as avatars or themes. To me it's all about the games, discounts and the exclusive/early access to betas. But I do get where you are coming from. I myself would like if PS3 could have party chat but that's already been said to never be available. Hopefully PS4 has it. I wasn't trying to bash Xbox Live I'm just not very knowledgable on what sort of content it offers to members. 

You're mixing up absolutes with opinions.  LIVE might have been "proven to be superior" to you, but value is relative.  Personally, getting to play games for free, along with all the impressive discounts, blows away "messages, inviting friends, party chats," and I'm not even going to list avatars because they are that meaningless to me.

Really, "proven to be superior" is kind of silly, isn't it?  People like different things.

If you don't have both then I don't believe you should be shouting that PSN+ is the best.  And yes PS4 should have party chats, or at least cross game chat.  PSN needs to fix its messaging system, inviting friends, and a more accessible online dashboard that you can access at all times.  I know some people prefer free online like the person above me but Sony, Microsft, and Nintendo does have to pay for the servers we use so I dont mind giving 5 dollars a month for an online service whether it's to PSN or XBL.  XBL is very successful so I wouldn't doubt if PSN+ is mandatory next gen but who knows, it's also a good marketing tactic keeping it free.  Really though if you haven't tried steam, try it.  It's free and knocks PSN out of the park.
