Forums - Gaming - Who has the best 3 pillar concept!!!

Looking at how things are at the moment I remember Nintendo's 3 pillar strategy.  With the advent of the Wii U the 3 pillar concept is alive once again.  However, it isn't limited to just Nintendo; nope the other big guys are currently having or gonna have their 3 pillar strategy quite soon. Lets start:

NINTENDO:

Wii(~95mil), 3DS(~22mil), and upcoming Wii U(5-8mil units sold by Christmas2012?)

vs

SONY:

PS2 (100+mil), PSV(3mil),  and PS3 (67mil)

vs

MICROSOFT:

X360 (69mil),  Surface/Windows8 (???), and Kinect(30mil) or X720 (???)

who has the best 3 pillar out of the big 3?

Nintendo does at the moment. But maybe a year ago it was Sony. When the Ps2 was selling a bit better and there was the PSP on the list. I am not sure if I totally agree with your OP though.

Why not include the DS or PSP? Microsofts three pillars are stretching it I thin

Why doesn't MS not have a 3 pillar strategy seeing that smart devices are suppose to supplant consoles and handhelds right? Well the PS2 is still selling, but yes the PSP is a better 3rd pillar (in some cases better than PSV) than the PS2.

Of course Microsoft. Windows 7 has sold more than 600 million copies, windows 8 will probably do at least 500 million. That is a lot of gaming platforms and a lot of sold games!

As far as I know, Windows 7 comes with 13 bundled games.

Apple. iPhone, iPad, and iPod can't be beat.

Ps2 and ds are the best consoles ever made. Nothing else really deserves to be mentioned alongside.
Therefore sony and nintendo.
closest thing for ms is the 360 which is three times the price of those consoles with half the library and a tenth of the diversity.

No company is using a three pillar strategy at the moment, because three pillars means to have three main platforms. The common transitions between generations are not the same as adding a third pillar.

that's not what Nintendo said when they released the DS.

Damn you Apple, you are a worthy foe indeed. (really if Apple was to release a dedicated console the big 3 will be in deep sH!t)

And it was sort of applicable after the DS came out, given that the GBA still saw games like Minish Cap, Mario Pinball, Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones, and Mother 3.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
