Forums - Sony - Sony Is Losing Ground Heading Into The Holidays (or Sony is d0med)

Marketing has always been Sonys Achilles heil, and gamers are generally overlooking PASBR and LBP Karting.

Sony seems to want to coast this holiday with the slim and bank on next year for big games.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Sony has enough content coming out from their internal studios and third parties to make their console viable for the Christmas season...

And Xillia 2+Yakuza 5 in Japan.

Not sure how this impacts PS3 sales on a global basis. Will make a dent for the weeks they release sure. but Europe and NA is the true battleground.

The facts are: Sony looses more and more money since six years. Vita is a disastrous flop. PS3 sales are ok now, but Sonys gaming division is still loosing money.

Yay more doomed articles!

Well he didn't exactly said doomed, he just said the Vita and the PS3 will have a rough holiday season, which I agree.

Even though MS only have Halo 4, that franchise it's extremely huge in the U.S, making the PS3 exclusive games seemed kinda "pointless" if you're not a Sony fan. And that's the thing, most games coming from Sony only appeal to the Sony fans, they don't have (at least not yet) a mass appeal like Mario or Halo, and this is mostly do to poor marketing.

Sony will have a difficult holiday this year, no doubt about it, will it a massive failure? No, but comparing it to the competition, those sales will not look so good, but like I said over and over again, prove me wrong Sony...

PS3 has everything but USA on lock. PS3 won't have a difficult holiday in any stretch of the imagination, but Vita might.

Japan will be Nintendo's territory this holiday season, which leaves Sony with Europe only.

Thats a BIG territory to not have on lock :P. And Wiiu has Japan this holiday. Forgot that 360 dominates Nov and Dec for the last 2 years? This year looks like a hatrick with the long overdue price cut and Halo 4/COD bundle.

Yup, it's not going to be the biggest holiday for them. I don't think the gap between 360 and PS3 is going to be as earth-shattering as some people are making it out to be, though.

And from next year on, it's going to be a different story (at least until E3...!)

Remind me how that has anything to do with "Sony losing ground". They are making ground if anything, since Wii is becoming increasingly irrelevant.

Losing ground to 360....... And I seriously doubt this OP had PS3 vs Wii in mind when writing it.

No one mentioned how the PS3 is going to lose ground. They have been outsold by the 360 in the US pretty much all year, so are they expected to lose moreer ground? If anything the PS3 could gain on the x360 certain weeks.

In the two areas where the PS3 is comfortable ahead, I dont see the system losing ground to the 360 at all.
Japan - no contest
Europe - no price cut for the 360, Sony wont be losing ground there.
