My mate just got a PS3 and he has an AWESOME (if a few years old) Sony HD televison that does not have HDMI!!! From a (very) brief look at the back it looks like it has a couple of component ports but i didn't check for vga etc. What is his best option for getting HD? Is there a way on the PS3 other than HDMI or does he have to stick with AV?

I think he needs HD AV Component cables: http://www.us.playstation.com/PS3/Accessories/SCPH-10490

If he has a VGA port than buy the HD VGA cable for the PS3, if not then he has to use the above option.
