i played the private beta and it was actually really fun but then the news of the final roster came out and seeing there is no crash and the fact that i have xbox, vita and other ps3 games to get just doesnt seem worth it to pay full price at launch for 20 characters. I mean arent people worried that some important characters that help define sony arent in the game? New dlc characters wont bring in that many new customers seriously if you think about it as the inital hype is what gets people to pre order and buy.

Actually this game will have legs. It won't be frontloaded.

It will sell over time. With new DLC characters and stages, they will keep the hype going. You're telling me if they announced Crash as DLC that you wouldn't be temped to buy the game right then and there? Hell by the time they start doing DLC the game will cost $40 or less. Or better, on Black Friday Buy 2 get 1 free...

Can you prove any of that or is that wishful thinking? I wouldnt even call those educated guesses because the preorders are so low. And do my eyes decieve me or are you praising DLC as a means of "saving" this game?

On topic, people are waiting for the metacritic. Previews and gamer sentiments are too mixed and on-the-fence. Better hope this game scores at least 80+ meta or you can kiss those "legs" goodbye.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

So the dream of every Playstation fan is having a game that neither represents the Playstation brand in gameplay nor in characters? OK.

huh???

the characters in the game have their movesets taken as directly as possible from the games they're from

and in terms of history all of the most important first party characters are in...

as for third parties like crash and spyro that were important to playstation over a decade ago it has been repeated constantly that the developers rely on the permission of third parties to use those characters

I have not pre-ordered it yet but will probably do so a few days before it releases. Really don't see a reason to pre-order the game so early.

I am skeptical because the beta was terrible and the art style too. The characters don't mesh well, the super sytem is annoying, the maps are surprisingly boring despite the fact that they have a great idea for crossover maps, and keeping up with your character on the screen is so unneccesarily harder than it should be. Also, controls were weird and not in a way that I makes it a good kind of unique and the characters roster is lame. Could have been great but...I guess they could delay the launch, add more characters to the game, make a distinctive art style and match characters to it, make better maps, and add alternate fighting mechanics such as health bars or something other than just the super system. I also noticed that there were rarely any items on the battlefield in PASBR. In fact I don't recall touching anything except bubbles in the LBP level and I don't think they did anything. Maybe there weren't even any items in the beta...Don't worry about those, I don't use them ever in Smash and wouldn't in PASBR.

You weren't in the beta. The beta was awesome, who told you it was terrible?

I played the game's demo a bit, and it just isn't all that great. It feels unpolished, loose, and the mechanics don't feel like they'd lend themselves to a competitive fighter. It may be good enough to grab at 20 or 40, but with all that's coming out over the holiday, I don't think I'll have the time or money.

What demo? There is no demo.

I haven't even played this game yet and I know more than you....those bubbles give you AP.

I don't know wtf you're talking about it not having a good artstyle. The game is based on different franchises. Each character has its own unique art style and so do the stages. Yeah, the game is cartoony but in a good way. Having gore in a game like this just doesn't make sense. Oh and the games UI and stuff isn't final. What you played is a beta which is months old.

You should play it before you buy it. The games clash with each other and characters such as Parappa look just terrible. He reminds me of a little animated eraser gummy thing because of the way he is shaped(not 2d but rather a thick 2d character which looks so laughably bad). Also, yes, dlc will fix the roster but...dlc for fighters sounds good...I think it is a terrible idea. Throws off balance which is really one of the most important parts of the genre. Enjoy your game I guess. Not for me.

I already made up my mind. I'm buying this game. Even if its not as fun as I think, I'd support this game over another Killzone or Resistance ANY DAY.

I'll get my money's worth though. I know that much.

I don't think I've ever pre-ordered any videogame, ever. This one will not change my mind, despite the costume bonus which is cool.

god no.
boxed stages, clash of artstyles, retarded meter system, the final roster, donte, etc.
The metagame will be poor.
I aprecciate the effort but the smash series set a standard.

So you want them to rip off Smash Bros?

Here they are trying to innovate and set this game apart and you just want more of the same. I'm sorry you feel that way but this is so much more than just a Smash Bros clone. If you have a PS3 I hope you try out the public beta.

P.S. WTF is Donte?

Without Lara Croft, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon, Cloud Strife, Squall Leonheart, Solid Snake or the original Dante this game does not represent what made Playstation the brand that it is today. Most of the characters in this game are exclusively PS3 affiliated, if even that. And the last 5-6 years are not exactly those where the Sony brand rose to greatness. The games name is All-Stars which implies that those characters had a certain success or impact. With characters like Nariko thats some deep reaching and Mecha Raiden and Punk Dante are completely unproven.

Concerning gameplay, using 2D to represent their "staple" franchises is nothing less than a travesty, but I discussed this before. Would this game be like Anarchy Reigns I wouldn't say a word since 3D was Sony's thing and I have nothing against a mascot brawler for Sony people per se.

Can I prove it will have legs? Yes. Look at any PS3 exclusive and you'll see that the bulk of its sales are NOT done on week 1. A perfect example is Uncharted 3. Low pre-orders but is now at over 4.5m sales a year later. LEGZ.

That is an educated guess. If anything, you are the one with wishful thinkingn hoping it will flop.

I'm not saying DLC will "save"the game. It doesn't need saving. The roster in the game is fine for the first in what I hope is the start of a successful franchise. The more successful the game is, the more likely other IP holders will want their characters represented in the game via DLC or future releases.
