Forums - Gaming - LOL, there goes the Gametrailers is biased in 360/PS3 comparison argument.

I agree with this, but some people seem to care anyway. Usually I personally see no difference at all, but then some people will come in and say they see some huge difference and wow the 360/PS3 sure looks much better.

People, they captured HDMI on a debug PS3. That isn't a reasonable way to capture this stuff (if you're going to at all, as Naz states). Unless you want the comparison to be:

Generic 360 unit

vs.

A PS3 unit you cannot possibly own and is not available to the public

Now that would be unfair.

HDMI against HDMI, i would think a debug unit would play games the same way as the retail one.
though i would rather they stop making useless comparisson videos, unless there are things that are really worth comparing, games like the orange box for example, then they need to explain what the differences would be.

There are some minor differences, but in general it's a philosophical problem. I agree that they shouldn't do it in the first place, but if they do it, they certainly cannot use a unit that the public doesn't even have access to. They don't even  use the elite 360 -- which does have HDMI in the box -- so I definitely don't think they should use a SKU that doesn't even exist.

No you CANNOT RECORD HDMI

According to rocketpig, this is false.

Leo-j please stop talking out of your ass! You can easily record via HDMI, the case is that you're immediately  considered  illegal due to copyright  issues from the HDMI foundation association.

funny, ive heard the xbox360 doesnt have protection if you copy game videos.
I would not think copying through HDMI is illegal, as long as the content is not protected.

though im not really sure, so ill tread lightly on this topic ^^

consumers dont really use capture cards when playing games neither.
cause the ps3 looks washed out in their capture cards but would look alright on TV's.

which is what sparked this whole ordeal in the first place.

im starting to agree with leo-j that this is fake....
though for different reasons
if you have a ps3 set to RGB limited, and if you tried setting RGB to full the display would become noticebly darker. so dark that if you calibrated your tv to limited, dark scenes would almost no longer be watchable in RGB full.
so why is there so little difference in this comparison?
i would understand if it was done on an HDTV because maybe they were both calibrated differently
but they used capture cards, you cannot change brightness levels on capture cards..

Recording from any HDMI source is illegal. The problem with the PS3 is that all output, even the games, are encrypted thus it's very difficult to capture from. That's not the case with the Xbox360 though.

so you mean to say that GT just did something illegal?

Whoa whoa now -- big difference between "they can, but rarely choose to," which is the case with capture cards, and "cannot possibly do so, even if they want to," which is the case with HDMI recording.

Wow, anyone who thinks they see a difference in that is ridiculous. That difference (if it exists) is so small that no one in their right mind would ever give a damn.

Who would care what GT uses anyway, it's not going to alter the way a system is selling or the way it's perceived by the public. Really, get over it.

maybe they got a special permit for comparison's sake to calm down the rabid fanboys.

i would also think people cannot possibly play ps3 games trying to use  capture cards as a display. they showed videos that are very noticebly above normal brightness levels on capture cards , an issue that would not happen playing on a normal display.

but i digress, i dont think pursuing this conversation would really go anywhere.
plus im sleepy, g'night ....
