No other consol was priced like the ps3 ( except 3do) i guess thats why its having a little trouble matching ps2's sales. and it doesn't look like sony is droping the price anytime soon. BUT...for a console that cost $400 and $500 its selling VERY good.

Go read about inflation and come back.  Even the Atari 2600 has an inflationary cost of $600.00   The 3DO has an inflationary cost of over $1,000.00.

The rEVOLution is not being televised

One million below already and it's just gonna get worse from now on.

Current-gen game collection uploaded on the profile, full of win and good games; also most of my PC games. Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts 1982-2008 (Requiescat In Pace).

This kind of consolation rationale was pretty popular when the PS3 first launched, but as time goes on we're seeing less and less potential for the PS3 to pick up momentum, in fact as time passes more and more works against its favor. It's already one of the most obsolete Blu-Ray players on the market, its only saving grace is its price and that won't last for long either.

While everyone sings the praises of what Blu-Ray has done for gaming, it was this wreckless implementation of it in its earliest form that has done the most damage to the PS3. While the PS3's Blu-Ray player reads at 2-4x speed other Blu-Ray players are already up to 14-16x speed. Mandatory file instalations wouldn't be are necessity for the PS3 had it featured a more advanced Blu-Ray drive, but unfortunately that wasn't a possibility so Sony had no choice but to force this unproven format prematurely on their next console dooming it not only as the next viable successor to the Playstation brand but its future utility of Blu-Ray in gaming. There is so much the Playstation 3 could have done with Blu-Ray but will never be able to due to its primitive early form of it.

This is just a question, only a doubt really, as I don´t know if it´s possible. But could a external 16X drive solve that especific problem?

Of course, but why would anyone want to buy another expensive Blu-Ray Player for a video game console whose key selling point and reason for being so expensive is its Blu-Ray.

They would buy it as a upgrade, cause you would only need the drive, not the whole player. The Ps3 is actually a beautiful and closed pc, so if is logical for me to get a better dvd drive when upgrading my pc, why not in the ps3 case. If only to play the latter games and the videos better. I don´t know how much it would cost, but if it´s cheaper then a whole 16X player, why not?
