The 2012 Tokyo Game Show on September 20-23 fast approaches.  The fate of 'The Last Guardian' remains unknown.

Aside from the news of several key departures from Team Ico, the status of 'The Last Guardian' has been quiet for the past couple of years.  Snippets of information revealing that 'the game is still in development' have surfaced, but nothing more. 

With a distinct lack of 1st Party games and exclusives lined up by the end of the year (the biggest exceptions being 'Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale' and 'LittleBigPlanet Karting'), could there be a surprise announcement?  After all, the second glimpse 'The Last Guardian', following its debut at E3, was in fact at The Tokyo Game Show back in 2009. 

With the imminent debut of the remodeled PS3, could Sony have even bigger plans to close out the year?  Will 'The Last Guardian' be at TGS?

Maybe just an announcement saying it's still in production.

No it's not, though I'm managing to keep very low expectations.  But I'm begging for something surprising to happen.  The last time I was shocked by a video game announcement was when Nintendo revealed the 'Revolution Controller' in 2005 at TGS.  If Sony drops this bomb at TGS, alongside the Super Slim, I would have a newfound enthusiasm for gaming in general.  I've been waiting a long time for this title, and I immediately knew it would be the one reason I'd end up purchasing a PS3.  Fingers crossed...

Honestly, I don't think it'll ever release

There is a chance of that happening.  But with the amount of money that Sony has put into its development over the past 6 or so years, I have a feeling they'll want to try and recoup as much of that as possible.  I mean if Duke Nukem Forever eventually came out, there's hope for 'The Last Guardian' yet (with the chance of this actually being a good game).

hm.. I actually wouldn't mind if they moved the project to PS4 and made it a launch window game for that platform, but knowing Sony I think that is unlikely to happen

Don't worry, guys. Nintendo will swoop in and publish this game exclusive on the WiiU.
