Forums - General - the moment you notice you've lost yo' smartphone

after several hours, i've wanted to go to bed, to be ready for work tomorrow and all.. and when i wanted to set the alarm on my LG Phone (no iphone, was sure expensive though) ... i noticed that it wasn't where its supposed to be., in the pair of trowsers i've worn for work...

no i am sitting here, i've searched for like 1 1/2 hours (its 01:00~ over here, actually i'd need to go to bed, seriously), when i decided to call the service hotline, to block my number from being used... and now im sittin' here... i mean the phone was like 300€, if you do volunteers work thats quite a bit of munny. but that isnt the point.. i just realized how much important data (passwords, documents, messages, numbers, contacts videos, photo's) was on that thing, practically waiting for someone to abuse all o' that...

i hope with blocking the number and changing my amazon/ebay passwords, at least there won't come any additional costs towards me, but i've just come to the conclusion to buy my next phone only to... well, call others.

i hope nothing BAD has happened before i noticed it, but this is something that i will be told in around 7 hours from now, when my provider's service actually is available again. (yeah, i hope mister "electric voice" blocked my number succesfully)

damn that hurts...

hope you guys learn something from my story - always guard your phone.

Have you tried calling your own phone with a different phone? (home phone or using a friends cell phone) That way you can hear it ringing, or buzzing if you have it on vibrate.

yeah i did, i even tried to locate it, but the police denied to do so, since "to locate phone requires that life is in danger"...

i've given up. it hurts, but oh well, everything is better than to get all worked up for something i cant change anymore. i'll get a cheaper one to keep me over water, and when my contract expires, i'll make sure to get a new one with an awfully expensive phone, and i'll make sure that i get a protection plan that keeps my phone secure. :)

You said that you have an LG Phone. I'm not sure what kind of services they have, but do they have anything like this that you can use?

I only have an iphone, so I'm not sure about other manufacturers. They may have something or they may not, but it's worth checking out to see if they do.

nope, LG does not seem to offer such services, but my sympathy towards apple just skyrocketed, realizing what kind of service apple is offering there. :o

That's too bad. Sorry you couldn't find your phone.

I've never had to use the service myself, but Apple prompts you to enable it (if you want) when you are doing your initial setup, which is how I knew about it.

Good luck with your new phone.
