It's not a web series. It's a TV show, just featured on a new, and still obscure channel (at least in the USA. In some countries Nick Jr or Cartoon Network carry it). In the US, it's on the channel that replaced Discovery Kids, called HUB. The obscurity of the channel means that a great many bronies have only ever seen the series online, either via iTunes or less legal means. and is developed by Lauren Faust, who is married to Craig McCracken, creator of Powerpuff Girls and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends (and she herself did some writing for the former and often served as Director on the latter), and has a few other veterans of Cartoon-Cartoons era CN Studios (or the illustrious Hannah Barbara of the 90s), like Rob Renzetti.

Most of the videos I have found for it have the name of the tv program it is shown on in the bottom right hand corner -.- How could people be that ignorant?

It makes a fair bit of sense. Who the hell knows what the HUB is if they don't have and regularly watch either premium cable or DirecTV? The channel didn't even appear until 2010, i think.

Which is why I call it a misconception and not something more accusational . Just like I can't go around accusing elementary kids of being stupid for thinking the sun revolves around the son. You can't hold them accountable for stuff they didn't learn or know.
